United Airlines has announced that some inbound and outbound flights will be canceled today as a result of the storm. Passengers are advised to check www.united.com for more detailed information.

Several shelters were opened to ensure residents are safe during the heavy winds and rain.  Machanaonao Elementary and FBLG are no longer accepting people seeking shelter because they have reached capacity, but Upi Elementary and Maria Ulloa are now open for those needing shelter.  GW High School, Talofofo Elementary and Merizo Elementary are also open.

Stay tuned to the stations of KUAM for the latest developments.

Typhoon Francisco expected to pass Guam on Friday at 1am
Governor Eddie Calvo declared Guam in Condition of Readiness 2 and public schools and the Government of Guam will be closed on Friday.  We can expect damaging winds and rain within the next 24 hours and Condition of Readiness 1 is anticipated at 1am Friday, barring any movement west.

While the typhoon is not expected to pass directly over Guam, it is expected to pass close enough that the island will receive strong winds and rains over an 11-hour period tomorrow.  Winds of about  40-46 mph will start around 7am in the southern villages and 8am in the northern villages. These winds and rains will continue until 6pm. That's the forecast as of now.

Guam - Guam's 911 Center received an emergency call before 9pm of an explosion by the Tree Bar area at the Guam Hilton on Tumon Bay. There was a second call made to 911 of a report of another explosion on the third floor, but that turned out to be a false alarm.

Guam Homeland Security, the Guam Fire Department, the Guam Police Department, the FBI, and military officials were on the scene. According to GPD spokesperson Sergeant Liz Flickenger, the damage was excessive and the explosion occurred during a dinner show at the Tree Bar.

Currently, the hotel has evacuated, and guests are standing outside waiting for the all-clear. Others have been offered to stay down the road at the Pacific Islands Club.

Two people were injured during the event - one local and one Japanese person, both of whom are in their 30s.
