The best croissants in LA. Get there early if you want all the flavor options. Plain is perfection which made me happy but I was surprised how good their chocolate croissant was, I never liked them before then. I have yet to try their almond croissant, they're only offered once a week during the weekend and I always forget which day! But It's a goal to try it!

Alain Giraud's restaurant and bakery is a gift to Pacific Palisades. The best croissant in the world, especially the ham and cheese served only on the weekends at brunch. Love it with a Bellini or Mimosa. And in parking strapped Pacific Palisades, its free. I like the specials, his bouillabaisse was memorable. And if you want to be transported to Provence, visit his wife Catherine's shop next door with everything from lavender to linens.

One dinner the mushroom special was superb; Mr. Giraud was in the kitchen and his wife and son dined next to us. On a repeat evening, the same meal was terrible - meat overcooked and puff pastry awful. Croissants are too tough, greasy, and not like those in France. Bread is too rustic. Waiters come and go and don't know the food.

If you're willing to put up with the echt French wait staff atttude, then your meal will be a success. Equisitely prepared dishes and authenticallly French.

Dinner is a leisurely affair; be prepared to take well over an hour. Service is slow to glacial. If food comes out hot, it is tasty and well prepared. The chocolate souffle is a work of genius! Definitely good ingredients. Also, excellent choice for brunch on Sunday while the farmers market is in town... provided you like your eggs underdone the French way.

great food! i trek here just to buy croissants and bread. service needs to be refined, but i imagine it will improved over time as maison giraud only opened recently and will be expanding its services (e.g., take out).
