Very interesting move. Good material for an economics paper, too.
In a rare foray into social engineering, Facebook announced a plan to encourage users to list their donor status on their pages, a move that organ transplant experts are calling historic.

Whoa. The Simpsons characters were named after Groening's own family. I now feel sort of sorry for Groening's father, who was the original Homer.
Also, "Springfield" was modeled after the Springfield in Oregon.

Introduction

Catherine Rampell writes a twice-weekly, nationally syndicated opinion column for The Washington Post. She frequently covers the job market, women in the workforce, housing, taxes, government budgets, health care, education, poverty, millennials, and various other topics, with a special emphasis on data-driven journalism. In addition to her columns, she also writes shorter, chart-heavier takes for her Post blog, Rampage.

Catherine previously worked at the New York Times as an economics reporter, founding editor of the award-winning Economix blog, and guest columnist for the New York Times Magazine’s “It’s the Economy” column. She also moonlit as a theater critic for the Times, reviewing Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway plays.

She is a regular guest on Marketplace’s “The Wrap,” and has appeared on shows on MSNBC, Fox News, PBS, CNBC, CBS News, ABC News, C-Span, the BBC, and various public radio stations.

Catherine received the Weidenbaum Center Award for Evidence-Based Journalism and is a Gerald Loeb Award finalist. She grew up in South Florida (the New York part) and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton.
