[Hacked?] Troy Hunt, Software architect and Microsoft MVP has developed a new site so that you can check to see if your email address (data) has been pwned. This is an awesome tool, and a great link to bookmark and share.

I found one of my email addresses in the Adobe hack...

New Blog:

If you are going to use major search engines to seek out privacy tools – it is to your advantage to think twice about using major search engines (Google, Bing) – instead, search with services like Duckduckgo (when using Cocoon) and outside of Cocoon use https://startpage.com/ via “view by Ixquick Proxy.”

Why We Love Privacy (And You Should, Too!)

Though the definition of online privacy differs from person to person – most of us would agree that we should be able to control what personal data is shared with the outside world. In an ideal setting – we should know who has access to our personal data; what purpose they are using our data for; and be made aware of when they access our private data. The ability to control who gets to peep at what should inherently be under our control (unless we choose to place our private data in the public realm).

[Cocoon Internet Security Tip]

Weak passwords are too easy to crack! Here is how to create a password that is most likely impossible to crack [Fossilized]:

1- Make it looooooong
2- Use a passphrase to make it easy to remember
3- Use a minimum length of 15 characters that includes upper/lowercase, numbers, and symbols.

Here is an example...

Using the song "Blue Christmas" by Sheryl Crow - I will create a passphrase from the first 2 lines of her song:

I’ll have a blue christmas without you
I’ll be so blue just thinkin’ about you

Passphrase: ihabcwyibsbjtay = 15 characters

Next I will take this passphrase and capitalize the "b" in the second verse and place a number and symbol at the end of the passphrase:

ihabcwyibsBjtay23!

Next, I am going to check my new password with GRC.com:

https://www.grc.com/haystack.htm

In conclusiong: I have a nice long password that I can remember (via the passphrase) that includes upper/lowercase, numbers, and a symbol. It also would take an extremely long time for a program to crack my new password online = 1.28 hundred billion trillion centuries!

Contrast my new password at GRC with a weak password such as 123456. It can easily be cracked in 18.52 minutes. Which password would you choose?

Our mission is to take Internet security and privacy to a new level
Introduction

Currently I am an ultra-COOL FREE Firefox Plug-in that creates a new way for people to browse the web privately and securely with total freedom from viruses, malware and online tracking. I hide your identity and IP address behind a protective barrier that gives you control over what you choose to share or not share.

I encrypt your connection to the web and make every site you visit as safe as visiting your online bank, even on open Wi-Fi networks -  hackers can't get to you either!

I was born from an idea developed at Virtual World Computing (VWC) where Co-Founders Jeff Bermant,CEO and Brian Fox, CTO believed that the solution to the web woes of viruses, malware and online tracking was to recreate the browser so that the Internet would not directly touch you, tapping instead the benefits of virtualized and cloud computing .

My anti-virus scanner pre-scans anything you choose to download. It is just like having an ‘electric fence’ around your Internet experience that prevents intrusions and attacks from ever reaching your computer.

I am always evolving and hope to have an Internet Explorer or iPhone sibling soon. Keep your fingers crossed.
