A fun way to serve fresh vegetables that isn't a salad!

...and now if only the price of peppers at my local grocery would only drop back down to what I consider reasonable prices again...
I have to confess that I'm a rather reluctant salad eater. I blame a childhood of sad lettuce side salads topped with gloppy ranch dressing and cherry tomatoes as hard as rubber balls. But wrap that salad up and call it a spring roll? And add a rainbow of crunchy fresh vegetables? Then give it a spicy sauce instead of sad dressing? Oh, I'm all over that. And I think any reluctant salad eaters at your table will be too.

I own a lot of knee socks (technically OTK, but I have big calves) from Sock Dreams. This is related. :)

One of the most blessed moments of parenthood...once you are finally able to realize and accept it as such!

I don't recall any trouble accepting this. :] Still doesn't happen if we go visit people, tho ... that would be pretty damn awesome.

*points and laughs*  Don't try to argue with a tank in the road; the tank will win!

There's a lot to remember when you're a learner driver but a pretty good rule is: don't pull out in front of tanks.

Because the post-to-G+ button is gone from all the toolbars now (DAMMIT, GOOGLE!  BAD CHOICE!), a lot of people may find this bookmarklet useful.  Installation is simple:  drag the version you prefer (either open in new window to post, or open in same window) into your bookmarks menu, and you're good to go.  Just click it when you're on a web page you want to share to G+.

There's also a version and installation instructions for iPhone/iPad browsers.

It still won't help if you just want to say something without embedding other media — but if you've been in the habit of at least finding a pic to grab attention when you want to do that, you'll be ok without that button.

Have I shared this before?  I can't remember.  This concerto will have classical music buffs in absolute stitches.  I blame my mother for introducing this to me *mumbleflurble* years ago, at an impressionable age.

Just as little girls are all too often left out of the equation when it comes to superheroes, trucks, and anything that might leave their knees scraped or their hands dirty, boys are taught from an early age that being caring, gentle, and kind is best left to the women. Sorry son, no dolls for you. But why don’t you hop on over to the blue aisle and grab a GI Joe or a toy gun from the plastic arsenal.
You might think this is me nitpicking and making a mountain out of molehill, but I believe you’re wrong.
All of this gender nonsense is destructive, harmful to our kids, and tied together. And as much as informed parents rail against it, so much of it is unavoidable because it strikes from all angles.

_"We let boys go through life thinking things like involved parenting are a woman’s job, and then clutch our pearls and wonder why there are so many absentee fathers. And on the flip side, perhaps there are so few female CEOs because they’re too busy taking care of kids at home — a job men are hesitant to do because they’ve seldom been included in that discussion.

Let’s just stop. Stop the pink vs blue and let kids go naturally to where they’re comfortable. Stop the pigeonholing with stupid onesies like “Lock Up Your Daughters!” for boys and “Too Pretty for Homework” for girls. Stop pretending boys have an inherent interest in guns and trucks while girls automatically seek out Barbie. Sure it might hold true in some cases, but let’s stop putting the expectation there before they’re even old enough to walk."_
While picking out a doll for our son so he can prepare for a new sibling, I noticed something troubling - all of the messaging is aimed at girls.

My sons both had baby dolls when they were little. They carried them around everywhere for a few years and played with them until they were about 6 years old. It was the most natural thing in the world.

I once gave a friend's son a baby doll for his birthday because she had always remarked how "cute" it was when my boys played with theirs. I never saw the boy play with it, not once. I think her husband dispatched it quietly. :(

Wise words.

Specifically, "I think we can all learn something from this... don't you?"

+Google, I really wish you would stop gratuitously logging me out while I'm in the middle of doing something.  It's not as though I had gotten up and wandered away from my machine for hours, you know.  I hadn't even been signed in for an entire hour yet, and I was actively typing in a comment, which is now lost!  I am not amused. >.<
