My parents grew up in the New Orleans area and Pascal's Manale is an old favorite of theirs. The food and service is always excellent. My must have dish is the BBQ shrimp and the first time you have it if you are not from the area it can be surprising. It is basically whole shrimp in a butter garlic sauce. Soaking bread in the sauce is almost as good as the shrimp. If you order it they but a bib in you as it is very messy but delicious.

BBQ shrimp and raw oysters = awesome. Wonderful food and great service. It's worth the drive from the downtown area.

Went with a group so had a good time overall, but i agree with the other reviewer who said the place is a bit schizy. It looks like a fancy restaurant with white tablecloths but the food requires crab shack casual attire. I guess i just hate having to work for my food that much. Had the BBQ shrimp. Tasted good but wow what a mess to eat! Overall not worth it.

The food was good but it's way too hoity toity. The hostess is snobby, they won't seat you without your whole party, no hats in the dining room, blah blah. Then they give you a bib to eat the bbq shrimp. Really??? And the acoustics are terrible so it is almost impossible to have a conversation at the table, much less hear the waiter.

Excellent experience! Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Service was prompt and attentive. Food was absolutely AMAZING! Great gumbo, lovely crab bisque, fresh oysters, fish cooked perfectly, GIANT meatballs, silky alfredo paired with crab cakes was rich and oh so good. Their BBQ shrimp were a wonderful, tasty, mess- but they put a bib on you so you can enjoy with wild abandon. Bread pudding was perfect, rich and dense topped with an incredible bourbon butter sauce. Can't say enough good things about this place!

Wonderful experience! This was my 5the trip to NOLA but first here. Proof once again that you've got to get out of the French quarter once in a while!

I can't stress this enough: if you visit New Orleans, you must come here and taste the barbecue shrimp. This restaurant has impeccable service with a tremendous array of food. They cover Italian cuisine with creole flavors. If you go for lunch, you could also look into the red beans and rice with a pork chop. I also recommend the gumbo, but you might have to ask for extra rice. I doubt that you will have room for dessert. This is one of my favorites. I compare other restaurants to this experience.
