Rest In Peace, Lydia. After reading this article about Skyrim's Lydia, I decided to take on a companion myself, and I too chose the attractive Lydia, after hiring a hooker...I mean mercenary. I was unsure about taking on a companion because I often rely on my stealthiness while in dungeons, but I realized I could tell Lydia to WAIT. That fucking changed the way I played. I had my cake and ate it too. I could tell Lydia to wait at an entrance of a cave while a cleaned it out, and I benefited from her being with me out in the open skyrim. Dragons, now, are distracted by Lydia, my tank. Just like the author of the link I provided, I began to feel a bond between this NPC. She was my Shield-sibling, as the Companions say. Yesterday, I accepted a contract to kill a high profile person from the Dark Brotherhood. In order to kill my contract, I had to kill other people to set the complex plan in motion. The final stage of the plan was to get to the contract, and between me and him/her their stood many guards and one NPC that would not die because she was an important quest giver. Lydia fought well with her Ebony greatsword; she liked two handed weapons. I was shooting arrows from a distance and making sure I did not hit Lydia. It was a slow battle. The guards had so much health. Lydia did not survive, but her death was not in vain(spl?). She help me accomplish the task I was on. to kill ____.
