Diary entry for January. Cold here in the UK, spring now 3 months away, first games in May, starting to think about exercise and getting fit.

Reflective practice in sport/cricket. This is a process used in education and in some professions to look at, examine and analyse what you're doing in order to explore ways in which to improve. I reckon that it might suit some people looking to improve their practice in sporting scenarios such as bowling. Have a look it might suit you...

Joe Owen - Benfleet cc this week.
This is another post from my blog www.bowlingplans.blogspot.com with analysis of batsman that I’ve played and bowled against. This is something that many professional bowlers do as part of their preparation prior to bowling against the same opponent. This post includes analysis, the field from the game and a suggested plan for the next time you face the opponent. Share, re-post and get involved in the comments section.

Another blog post with analysis of one of our local batsman - Taylor Wood from Harlow Town cc here in Essex, England. The analysis as you can see includes a suggested field setting for him if you're a bowler in our area. Batsmen though, can be grouped into types of players and you may recognise Woods strengths and weaknesses in players you bowl against. Have a look, share and feedback.

From the book "The art of Wrist-spin bowling" by Peter Philpott the classic wrist-spinners field for left-handed batsmen.

Here's the 2nd batsman - Richard Hawkins of Southend EMT from the SNEL league here in Essex. Have a look - do you recognise his batting style, is this a common feature? Any other ideas you might have use the comments facility on the blog. Please share across all social media platforms. What would also be really good is contributions from other spin bowlers, if you're interested get in touch.
