Waited over an hour to be seated when they said half hour. Then waited an hour to recieve our food. We weren't the only table with that problem. Busy or not, that's a long time. Not great. Food was awesome. Highly recommend the gumbo.

I've been there twice. Great brisket. Hard to find brisket this good. Get it with sauce on the side so you can enjoy the real flavor. They smoke it 14 hours so there are no shortcuts. Heard the ribs are awesome too. Get the greens. Its a fun place.

The worst aspect of eating at Papa's Soul Food Kitchen is the wait to eat there! They should seriously reconsider the way they handle the waiting list: Parties are allowed to put their names on the list, leave for an hour and come back to being first in line. This rankles the folks who arrive and wait patiently for a table. Besides that, the food is delicious, especially the popular fried chicken, which can run out by the time you sit down to eat!

I went to Papa's on a work trip to Eugene in early 2014. They were out of the jerk chicken which is the reason that I went, so I was a bit disappointed. The server - very cool guy, super helpful - recommended the special that night, the meatloaf and asparagus. Straight up, I was flabbergasted at how good it was and that is not hyperbole. Best meatloaf I've ever had by a long shot. Had the red beans and rice as well and was pleased with that dish. I'll be returning to Papa's when I'm in Eugene...every time.

Delicious thee best BBQ in Oregon hands down. Been here a hundred times and will always be back for the ribs and oysters.Phenomenal drinks and delicious soul food. Bargain drinks and plate platters so don't raise prices

This could possibly be the catalyst for me to move back to Eugene. My wife and I went there on Saturday (yes, with 6+ inches of snow) with my dad and his wife to celebrate my birthday. It was great. I had ribs with collard greens, fried okra and sweet tea. I don't know if collard greens are naturally quite bitter, but they were cooked in a way that took the edge off. I could have eaten a giant bowl of the okra. The ribs were awesome. I'm not usually a fan of pretty much straight sweet sauce, but this sauce is excellent. Potato salad is good. Honestly, the corn bread didn't stand out. Tried the Crawdad Jambalaya my dad ordered. Holy freakin' crap it was good. Finished off my wife's Pastrami sandwich, which was super tasty. All-in-all this place is great. I will definitely try to come back the next time we're in town. Or, maybe try to get a job in Eugene so I have and excuse for us to move back down there... One thing I forgot to mention: My dad talked about how some times this place will be packed and it can be 30-45 min. to get a table. He said in that case they go across the street to Sam Bond's Garage (love that place, miss is a lot) and have a couple beers while they wait. Not too bad an idea...
