Questions & Answers  -

Hello, I am trying to create a web page where a series of questions are to be answered and depending on the answers, (a)the next question would appear or (b)the results dependent on the answers will appear. Most of the questions are yes/no format with some exceptions of (does not apply to me).

What is the best way to approach a page like this?
1. Using show/hide functions where all the content is already on the page and it is only shown when appropriate.
2. Every time a question is answered, send the user to a new page with the appropriate information.
3. Other

I appreciate your help and time.

Depends on a few things.

If we're talking a quiz or some sort of application where the answers should have some secrecy, then you're probably not going to want to merely hide / show them.

If that doesn't matter, then simply revealing the new question and results as the user goes along might be best,  no new requests, limited potential for delays in the experience

That is, assuming we're not talking a million different questions that might make the initial load a bit heavy. As +Jordan Hurt  said, Ajax calls would work well in that case where you simply fetch the desired questions as needed.

Introduce Yourself  -

Hi everyone, my name is Rafael and I'm going into my senior year in college as a math major and computer science minor. I have taken a few introductory course and going into more advanced courses this coming year. I hope to graduate in May 2014 with a BS in Math. I hope to advanced to grad school and earn a Masters in computer science or other similar area. I love technology and everything about it. I know basic Java and a little bit of COBOL.

+Rafael Flores - get an Android tablet (Nexus 7?) and play around with Android Studio (http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/studio.html). I'm no expert in Android development, but I was able to create a decent app rather quickly in this environment. Good luck.

Is anyone here an expert with COBOL and is willing to help a struggling college student?

I don't know with this is the correct category for this (it's hard to tell on my phone) I was wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I am having?

I am unable to access the internet, according to the little icon I have full internet signal but the advisory symbol appears and when I hover over it, it says "unidentified network" and "No internet access". I'm using a Lenovo ideapad P500 Touch on Windows 8.1

I've had this problem before when I upgraded OS from windows 8 to 8.1. I fixed it by going into the Device manager and updating the driver software of the network adapters. It sometimes takes me a few tries/restarting my computer to solve this problem. Is there a better solution to this?

Thank you for your time.

I never did have this problem (only worked with 4 laptops with windows 8.1 so far), so I cant comment about it much more, the only thing I could point is to vendor hardware drivers or system related problem that probably going to get fixed in the near future with a patch. Drivers are normally the problem with recent systems, I'm guessing this is one of dose.
You don't need to be an expert on Linux/Unix to know how to deal with this issues (that's just a guess).

Hello everyone, I was wondering if someone could help me out with a project for school. I began making this site a week ago and it was coming along really well but, my teacher today announced that it had to be of a certain format, which I didn't know about. Now I'm trying to move things around but it just makes a big mess of things. This is the link to my site:

http://www.albany.edu/~rf124561/Final/Final.html

The format is supposed to be header on top, a navigation bar (horizontal), a side bar on both sides, main content in the middle, and a footer.

I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. :$

That awful moment when you are finished coding, but your output is wrong because of a teeny tiny thing. #COBOL #programmerproblems
