The Smithsonian, the world's largest museum, is planning on producing 3D scans of its collection and making them freely available to the public to print out at home on their 3D printers (or incorporate into their virtual worlds). CNet's Daniel Terdiman has the story: Now, with that high-end scanner, as well as less expensive tools that include normal digital cameras and freely available cloud-based digitization software, Metallo and his fellow 3...

I know Japan is still recovering from the tsunami and nuclear disaster, but I hope (Solo) the USWNT hasn't forgotten Pearl Harbor.

Congrats to Japan and its WNT! A great storyline all around. I guess the big karma tracker in the sky figured Hiroshima and Nagasaki made up for Pearl Harbor and the Japanese were due a break after the tsunami. I don't know if there was anyway the U.S. was going to win that match. Japan hung tough, but both of their goals seemed to be happy accidents. I would have liked to see the U.S. perform a bit better in the shoot-out.

Before the "Nintendo wars" of the early 21st century, there were these toys, which invited young children to practice accurately releasing atom bombs. I'm not sure that the skills you learned with this gadget would translate into real A-bombing practice, though, which probably disappointed some youngsters. Atom Bomber

Google+ has surpassed 20 million users in 30 days and fb is around 750 million according to the article. fb has been around for 7.5 years which results in a growth rate of 8.3 million new users per month. Google+ is definitely growing strong, but if it is to become a legitimate fb competitor it needs more users.
You may not be ready to ditch Facebook for good, but now that you've had a chance to kick the tires on Google+, you might be ready to make it your go-to social network.

Will be interesting to see how much of the growth is just from people checking it out - http://mashable.com/2011/07/27/google-plus-traffic-falls/
