A coalition of Pan-African organizations based in New York Friday, partly lead by my affiliate and campaign partner of A Brilliant Genocide, Milton Allimadi, called on the Trump administration to place an arms embargo on Uganda, whose military under the dictatorship of Gen. Yoweri Museveni has caused the deaths of millions of Africans in East and Central Africa. [See our petition linked to this cause below]

Dr. Ron Daniels, who is the founder of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century, called on the leadership of the Congressional Black Caucus to take the initiative in introducing measures to end any U.S. role in acting as an “enabler” of Museveni’s atrocities. Daniels asked, “Do Black lives matter?” in reference to the outrageous death toll in East and Central Africa as a result of Museveni’s militarism.

Yesterday Prof. Tiffany Wheatland and New York associate Sam Disu held a screening of our film at the John College of Criminal Justice in New York.

Event host S. Disu wrote:

'Many of you have heard about Joseph Kony's campaign of terror in Central Africa.

But that is just one side of a larger story of American taxpayer-facilitated crimes against humanity under Dictator Y.K. Museveni.

Prof. Allimadi [who features in the film] explains how the documentary came to be after one woman visited Uganda on the trail of Joseph Kony and found a bigger problem.

Thank you for this critical work of love and sacrifice Ebony Butler.'

The International Uganda Convention in the Hague, Netherlands, in conjunction with the Hague Peace Projects and the Ugandan Diaspora P10, will be screening our documentary A Brilliant Genocide during the conference, on February 24th at 7.30pm.

See www.bit.ly/UGANDACONVENTION for more information.

ABOUT UGANDA DISAPORA P10

We are a group of pro-change Ugandans living in the Diaspora – Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, and parts of Africa. We Ugandans in alliance with friends of Uganda are united with the purpose of causing a legitimate and peaceful change of governance in Uganda. As Ugandans in the Diaspora, we embrace diversity and acknowledge that we contribute substantively to the Ugandan economy, and to the development of human resources, as well as enhancing the quality of life of many Ugandans.

Our financial contributions to the economy should have guaranteed us a special status representation in the Parliament of Uganda, voting from our foreign missions abroad, and participating in other organs of the state. Nonetheless, we have remained largely marginalized in that regard. We have therefore decided to become part of the force for change in Uganda and view the 2016 General Elections as a realistic opportunity that offers hope for change in the current political climate.

The P10 Diaspora is the civil response to the call by the FDC Presidential Flag Bearer, Col (Rtd) Dr Kizza Besigye for grass-root mobilization structure to canvass support, and protect the votes meant for Dr. Besigye on polling day. Its purpose is to generate awareness about how people can effectively exercise “peoples’ power” to cause the desired change, and to eliminate the attendant fears associated with the NRM violence during elections.
