I want to make sure everyone understands that what I am about to say is not  criticism of the cold steel products. I own two CS knives and I am happy with both of them. I have also carried the Leek that is tested in this video for at least eight years. I have used it for everything you would use a pocket knife to accomplish. From opening amazon packages, to working on cars, to whittling and lite carving, to defending myself in the dark of night. It has never failed and I doubt it will ever fail in anything you would use a pocket knife to do.

Is the lock on the Holdout stronger than the Leek. It does look like it is stronger from these tests.  Is the Leek strong enough for any sane pocket knife use? Yes, it is and I have at least eight years of using one knife every day to prove it.

If I lose my Leek, the Holdout will be one of the knives I will try in my pocket to see how it feels, I have no doubt about that. I also have my eye on a CS Kukri. But when you do these tests someone needs to say that you would never do anything that would put this kind of stress on a knife this size in a normal day.

Can you tell me the actual name of the author you referenced? Was it Chris Schwartz?

The sad state of Gibson

It's pretty well-known in guitar circles that if you want a Les Paul you look for a used Historic, which are Gibson custom shop replicas of classic Les Paul models. (That, or you find a good luthier to make you a replica.) And even if you do that, you are 80% likely to replace pretty much all the parts that are not wood: pickups, wiring, tuners, bridge. I did exactly this back in 2010, and the end result is one of the finest guitars I've ever owned.

Compare this to most Fender guitars, which are pretty much good to go right off the rack, whether it's a $500 made in Mexico model, a circa-$1,000 US model, or something from their custom shop.

While I think the article and some of the comments overstate the quality issues at Gibson a little bit, the fact is that nobody in their right mind buys Gibsons new, for list price. They've been coasting on their brand legacy for decades. And, yes, the "new" models have been batting zero for a while now.

(I found this via +Jim DelRosso, who shared an article about how Guitar Center has circulated a memo asking its employees not to share this Gawker story on social media.)
Today is the 100th birthday of guitar god Les Paul, whose innovations helped to make Gibson one of the world’s most famous guitar makers. Speaking of that—how is Gibson doing, these days?

So I tried this at lunch today and it is actually very good. I used to juice religiously but it takes so much prep and clean up time. This was very fast with the immersion blender and easy to clean up. Lunch really took about five minutes to put together. I miss big doses of veggies so much. This will make it easier to get back into the habit. I may eventually cut back on the fruit some.

Thank you so much for sharing.
This creamy green smoothie is one of my favourites and I often wake up craving it. It's a simple recipe that is easily customizable as smoothies usually are. I've been experimenting with variations of it for over a year. Wasn't this pretty? And more recently here.
