Of the many things about Gloomhaven, its easy to overlook that the portrayal of women was addressed early in design, as this early creator journal.

Ok, let's go into the weekend on a fun note. Time to find out who won the giveaway for Captain Sonar :D

But first....contest responses!

First off, in celebrating the Socializer's love of lighter, interactive games we asked how many of that group's nominated games you've played.

Of all the responses, 42% admitted to not having played any of them. Always an interesting stat when gauging a game's saturation. As popular as you think a game is, always be prepared for a surprise.

As for those who did play at least one, though, 36% played Potion Explosion, followed by Captain Sonar at 30%, Ice Cool & 1891 at 27% each, and Junk Art at 13%. Beyond Baker Street surprisingly only had a 7% response. (If you like Hanabi-style games you should fix that.)

The other question we asked was what your favorite team-based game was (not co-op or semi co-op).

Responses included a bunch of social games (Resistance, Two Rooms, etc), and some chaotic lighter games like Crazy Karts and Space Cadets Dice Duels. Yet several classic battle games had more than a few responses too - Axis & Allies, Memoir 44, 1775, etc. But by FAR the most common response was Codenames - coincidentally last year's Laurel winner.

Second most common was...Captain Sonar. So, apparently we're 2/2 on this category so far :)

With that said, it's time to hand out a copy! We're happy to report that the winner of the Laurel-winning Captain Sonar by Matagot is Jeffrey S of NE. Congrats!

Sometimes things don't have to be flashy to be useful, as illustrated by this week's Monday Magic Commander card pick:

Not every color can do everything. That's pretty much a mainstay of Magic's core color philosophy. Multicolor cards on the other hand are a bit different, hence this week's Monday Magic EDH pick.

A new month means a new Indie Spotlight...normally.

Turns out that using the shortest month for probably our most massive game selection so far wasn't enough time for Gloomhaven. So we're doubling up!
