When it comes to making up games, there is no age bracket. Anyone can do it. Refining those games takes a little more effort. In this month's Role Selection, Matt interviews Kathleen Mercury about her successful efforts in teaching a game design class to middle school students.

Talk about a diamond in the rough. This week's Monday Magic card is proof that you can certainly viable and desirable Commander cards in any set. Even from Homelands.

The 2016 Laurel nominees are live. Congrats to those named! Excellent stuff all around really. There were many, many good titles in 2016, and it was hard enough getting to just five for each of the categories. Check it out.

Space is really big. Except...when it isn't. 100 cards always sounds like a lot going into making a Commander deck, but space becomes a premium in a hurry. This week's Monday Magic Commander pick helps illustrates that.

Protection is one of the oldest Magic mechanics, and it's also admittedly one of the hardest for players to wrap their heads around. Unlike most most abilities in today's age, protection is a multifaceted trait with numerous uses. And if used right, it's pretty advantageous. This week's Monday Magic card is a great example of that advantage.

Okay. It's Santorini contest time! But first, some of the giveaway responses. Naturally :)

The first thing we asked was the last memorable island you visited - Santorini being an island and all. The answers were incredibly varied. Lots of names you'd expect - Caribbean Islands, Ireland, Iceland, NZ, UK, 2/3 of the NYC islands. Even a couple shoutouts to PEI. The two most common responses though were by far either Hawaii and local islands to you. Both are pretty good choices in our book.

Next up, it was time for the Greek god popularity contest! We asked your favorite Greek deity. And most of the answers were actually gods. There may also have been a few titans and muses thrown in. But close enough. The most common response was Athena at 18%, followed by Zeus and Poseidon at 11% each. Lots of ties after that.

By contrast, Ares, the god of war got just 1 vote. So it seems people like knowledge over conflict. What a strange concept.

Finally, though visually appealing, Santorini is ultimately an abstract game. So we wanted to know another favorite abstract game. Quite a few classics mentioned here - Go, Chess, Backgammon, Quirkle, Blokus, and more. Yet there were two runaway winners on this, with a tie between the ever-classic Hive and the newcomer Onitama. (Kudos to Arcane Wonders.)

But enough of that. It's time for a winner!

We're happy to announce the winner of Santorini by Roxley Games goes to Matthew G. of WA. Congrats!
