Success! The Cabal jersey is saved. The red had bled down into the white on the chest and one spot in the back, and the black and red had crept into the white on the wrists. Also, mud. It all came out in a cold water wash.

Meanwhile, my XC kit looks like it did before it went in the wash, but with the mud spots slightly  less obvious.

Hooray natural fibers?

Mine is only slow if I use Apex launcher. Otherwise, TRIM support in 4.3 should have taken care of any loss of speed over time issues.

Ughhhhh. Adding functionality to my old tire pressure calculation app, written in C++, I did a thing only allowed in Java syntax, thought "I wish I could do that in-line in C++" and was disgusted with myself.

Wrote this:

char Statement;
cout << "\n\nWould you like to continue? (y/n) ";
cin >> Statement;
if (Statement != 'y')
{
  proceed = false;
}

And it bugged me I couldn't declare Statement in-line, like this:

out.println("\n\nWould you like to continue? (y/n)");
String Statement = in.nextLine();
if (Statement.compareTo("y") !=0) {
  proceed = false;
}

Replaced a tire today for a guy, and sold him on a 25mm over a 23 for his fast commuter. Told him, "Hey, 2mm seems like a tiny amount, but that value is cubed over the whole tire, and you get 18.6% more air volume. You can also run at 110 PSI and get the same rolling resistance with more comfort. I run a wider tire because i'm tall." which the guy took well and said <"Well i'm a big guy..."> Right? Brainwaves.

The guy's wheel, though, was amazing. Mavic CXP33 with the brake tracks polished smooth from use, but still perfectly true, and the Ultegra hub bearings silky smooth. You commute  on this at your weight and this thing is in that good of shape? I have got to build me some of these!

+Eric Hansen Well, the TMS article at least links to the abstract for the actual study, as well as to the blog of a fairly respected history podcaster. To me, regardless of whatever TheBlack Box said, the TMS article seems pretty accurate and pretty effectively destroys the common assertions that have been going around in numerous places, including the RIR article in the shared post.

Ride started chilly, but acceptable in my layers. Rain started shortly after the turn around and I was unable to ride due to shaking by 10 miles out. Drank coffee, let my brain warm up, sprinted home.

Hopefully I can get the stripe off my Cabal wooly.

Is a jerk.
Introduction
I like to make stuff, to understand how things work, then to break things apart and make new things out of them.

Hobbies are like clothes to me; they wear out, and I get some new ones, except I never really throw the old hobbies away, so the analogy breaks down. Right now, I cycle pretty extensively. Ok, rather a lot.

Five things I like almost as much as riding a bike:
1: Looking at my bikes.
2: Talking about my bikes.
3. Reading websites about bikes.
4. Thinking about what bike i'm going to buy or build next.
5. Bacon.

Some things i've previously enjoyed as much as biking: SCA heavy combat, amateur radio, video games, firearms.

I'm attempting to learn the mandolin. I *love* music I have not heard before, particularly melodic metal or metal using unconventional instrumentation.

I am an Atheist, and will make posts regarding such, but I respect your right to believe in whatever you want.

If you hate homosexuals, feel free to never discuss such with me.

I'm pretty acerbic, and my sense of humor has been described as 'extreme', but I hope that doesn't stop you from reading the crap I post.

Visited this place with my fiancee when she was in town. We both ordered from the local special menu, her a fruit and pork dish, me the steak. I ordered medium-rare and received well done. On bringing this to the waitresses attention, I received another steak, again well done. Not a single bit of pink was showing in either steak. I don't know how you get to be a chef in a place that sells $22 steaks but still can't cook one medium rare. The pork dish was good, but nothing I couldn't have cooked at home. I'll not be going here again.

I improperly installed a crank set from a single speed kit, resulting in the left side arm being slowly destroyed. I called ALL the shops in Columbus, no one had a used crank arm in 165mm. One had a new Sugino Messenger arm, but at quite a steep price. Paradise Garage keeps Origin-8 crank arms in stock in all sizes just for things like this. I was able to properly install the new arm that weekend. It's been three weeks now, and my bike is still going strong.

Pretty much crap service. Operator shut down our lane, without explanation. Then claimed it was a mistake, turned it back on and called the cops. Probably had something to do with him wearing his pants around his knees. Don't go, ever.

GREAT in store selection and very courteous service. However, I will never special order another part. I had some tires on order for two months. First, I was told the tires were on their stock order, and that they would be in that Monday (three days). I ordered them, then called every other week. I was always told "they're not in yet, but they will be soon". One month in, I found out that the tires had never been ordered AT ALL! To compound that, they had the wrong size down for my name in the computer! At that point, I put half down, and the correct tires were ordered. Two MORE weeks, and I find that the tires STILL have not been ordered! The explanation was that the tires are now sold out nationwide. The tires were always in stock at several retailers online, for less money. Last thing I was told, was that they would definitely be in within the next two weeks, and that Columbus doesn't get snow in November. That deadline passed, still no tires, and NO CALL. I asked for and was refunded my money on Wednesday the 21st of November in the afternoon. In driving to Michigan, I got caught up in a traffic jam in Delaware. During that time, I ordered the tires from an online retailer. The local store could have, at any time, bought the tires at that same online retailer and sold them to me at 28.7% mark-up, free shipping. I received a shipping confirmation from the online retailer within an hour. Later on in the drive, around 7, the owner of Baer Wheels called and said he had finally ordered the tires and they were on the way. Apparently, apparently two months is the minimum time for parts orders.

I did not buy my bike at Eddy's, I purchased it over a decade ago in Arizona. I had previously replaced almost every part five years ago while living in Germany, so my ride is a real Frankenbike! I had a few issues and I was sick of trying to figure them out on my own. First, my derailleur always looked like it was sitting at an angle. They quickly showed me how the hanger was bent and fixed it on the spot. I also had a torn tooth on one of my chain rings. They ordered a new, larger set, and it came in a week later. The set would not fit although all printed materials said it should. They were able to find out my bike had a bottom bracket that was smaller than originally equipped and I needed a longer one. Once again, they fixed it while I waited, but it took a bit longer this time. Great service. Large dressing room with bench and mirror, too.

I pre-ordered Forza Motorsport 4 LCE a few weeks before release and paid in full. On release day, the game wasn't there. Apparently the shipment from MS was delayed. A few more days go by, still not there. Without calling or complaining, I was offered a gift card and assurances that the game would be there the following Monday. That's pro-active customer service right there!
