The Montessori Institute of Atlanta has offered teacher-training courses since 1968. Beginning by offering Primary (ages 2½–6+) courses, MIA has also offered a course for Assistants to Infancy (birth–3 years), and is now offering courses for those who wish to teach at the Elementary (ages 6–12) level. Our students have come to us from across the United States and from around the world.
Since its inception, all of MIA's courses have been accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands. AMI is the world-recognized authority in Montessori education. Montessori Institute of Atlanta is committed to the maintenance of AMI traditions and high standards of teacher training. Our AMI trainers are active participants in the Montessori community in the Atlanta metropolitan area, as well as within the international Montessori community.
For students who co-enroll in the MIA Elementary Training Course and the M.Ed. or C.A.S. program at Loyola University Maryland, dual credit can be accrued. Degree completion takes place at the Loyola campus within five years after concluding the AMI training program. (see website for link to Loyola)
Qualified students who are co-enrolled are eligible to apply for Direct Student Loans through Loyola.
