I knew of Meals on Wheels but I didn't know much about Meals on Wheels. I guess with Mulvaney... I'm in good company? Not company I'd choose to keep actually. Hopefully Congress won't just roll over for Trump's seemingly arbitrary budget recommendations.

More gaslighting from POTUS... or maybe that's too charitable a term. I don't know that he's doing it deliberately, I think it's more likely that he can't tell fact from fiction and is pathologically unable to admit when he's wrong.

Well, while I was concerned with Flynn's positions, and he should have known better than do what he did, I respect him for doing the right thing in the end instead of making the administration force him out or waiting until there were serious questions about official decisions. Kudos also to the press for continuing to scrutinize the new administration despite the pushback.

Oh my word... I thought it was just Namibia, and then I saw the Netherlands, and apparently the goal is to rally more or less the entire world:

Someone here in the states should organize a vote for which of them all gets to be second!

So, question... how many times does the POTUS and his administration have to tell bald-faced lies to the American public, and how badly do they have to screw everything up through incompetence, ignorance, and dysfunction, before it constitutes high crimes and misdemeanors and he's impeached?

If I understand the Wikipedia article on the subject it's a very broad category of offenses and he can be impeached whenever enough of Congress gets tired of the B.S. and decides he's gone too far in abuse of his office. One the one hand, that's reassuring, maybe he can be kept from marching us all into shibboleth; on the other, well... so far the GOP has been grudgingly falling in line so I'm thinking it'll have to end up being a lot more than just lies in the end.

Donald Trump is an excremental human being and the worst possible amateur hack I can envision in office.

The immigration ban is immoral but that's unsurprising; it's an amateur-hour whitewashing of the Muslim ban he promised. It's in violation of the Establishments Clause of the constitution; it's going to make America less safe as Muslims around the world are persuaded with this as evidence that we're their enemy; and it probably violates the Geneva Conventions' rules against discrimination on the grounds of national origin, religion, or race. It was apparently issued in a slapdash fashion without asking for input from anyone who might have been knowledgeable about or affected by such things, and the first person who spoke out against it was fired (thank you, former AAG Yates) because that's what dictators do.

But hell, while we're at it, let's piss off Mexico and Australia, why not? And let's tell the patriots in the State Department they can pound gravel, and put people who have supported the colossal fraud of intelligent design at the head of the Department of Education. Let's remove the DOE from the NSC, hey, we're not sure what the DOE is for anyhow! I'm honestly a little bit surprised at how reasonable the SCOTUS pick was -- apparently they decided that position required actual relevant professional experience.

The new administration is a disaster and it's not even a fortnight in. Please, America, continue to speak up for what is right and lobby your representatives and senators on both sides of the aisle to represent our long term national well being rather than this short sighted tearing down of the state. I don't see it happening because I perceive the GOP to be in an opportunistic power grab, but I can only hope that Donald is impeached soon for violating his oath of office and being an incompetent self-absorbed petty dictator who failed to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

Donald Trump is a loser. On November 8th, go vote for HRC and tell him so. She's eminently qualified for the job and the majority of the supposed problems with her are thoroughly documented to be exaggerations. I won't go point by point; do your own homework. We live in troubled times and you owe it to your country to inform yourself.

On the other hand, Mr. Trump is by his own words a religious bigot, a racist, a misogynist, a conspiracy theorist, a liar, and willfully ignorant of the world and of governance. Beyond empty platitudes he does not seem to care about the health of our democracy nearly as much as his own interests. Now at the end it looks like he's off his meds and is spouting nonsense about international conspiracies against him. News flash, Mr. Trump: you brought this all on yourself. By inciting rebellion in your wounded pride you're putting the lie to all your claims of patriotism. "What all forms of fascism have in common is the glorification of the nation, and the exaggeration of its humiliations, with violence promised to its enemies, at home and abroad; the worship of power wherever it appears and whoever holds it; contempt for the rule of law and for reason; unashamed employment of repeated lies as a rhetorical strategy; and a promise of vengeance for those who feel themselves disempowered by history. It promises to turn back time and take no prisoners."
