One of my favorite flirtatious exchanges in a book. Ever.

Set in early 20th century, among the British elite, touching in public was SO risqué!! Yet, they already have a baby (that she adopted because the mother died) who makes their engaged life...interesting.

This is a cool environment-adapted lizard.
When the surface of the desert dunes reaches 160 degrees for this lizard, he has to get creative to stay alive.

How will you be keeping cool this summer?

Every time I read through +Steve Turnbull's Maliha Anderson series, (which is more often than you would suspect), I have to take a step back and distance myself at the end of Halo Round the Moon because I get unreasonably mad at Steve. The same thing happens at the end of +Nathan Lowell's Owner's Share. And then I read the next book after a day or two and go back to loving these two authors and their great work.

This is definitely a sign that I become too emotionally invested in the lives of fictional characters.

Oh, and in case you hadn't heard...Maliha Anderson book 0 is at the editor. The book I've been begging Steve for for four years is almost available to the public (in a couple more months)!!! Maliha Anderson fans the world over send up a cheer. And steer clear of horses.

"Lawd, grant me the serenity not to take off my shoe and throw it at his balls."

Definitely the book quote of the week. Beauty and the Beast retelling that's got me giggling since it makes me miss home.

This particular string of work of Van Gogh's is one of my favorite series of his.
Van Gogh believed that the art of the future should be colourful and joyful, and Japan showed him the way forward. The hundreds of prints in his collection inspired him to look for his own Japan in the South of France. He thought the region was just as delightful as Japan: endless sun, beautiful nature, bright light and pure colours.
