Magpie's Cafe has been one of my favorite places since like 1984. I dropped in yesterday with 12 friends. MC accommodated us in a short wait. Service was friendly & efficient. My artichoke quiche was hot & delicious, my spinach salad tasty & cold. The Hershey Bar pie is to die. I'll be back.

Ordered the lasagna florentine. It was meh. Fine. Nothing to write home about. I enjoyed it. The Caesar salad was not as enjoyable. I'd give the lasagna somewhere between three and four stars (out of five), depending on my mood, but the Caesar, I would surely rank no more than two stars. I thought the thinly sliced red onion over the Caesar was innovative and pleasant, but the amount of dressing so overwhelmed the lettuce that I wasn't able to finish the serving. I greatly appreciated that they had gluten-free bread available for the sandwiches so my dining companion could eat something under $20. (And the GF bread was the main draw for us this evening.) He greatly enjoyed the chicken ranch sandwich (sans the ranch and bbq sauce). Really, for pieces of chicken, bacon, a small amount of not nicely melted cheese on two whopping large gluten-free buns . . . it was quite decent. At least evidenced from the squeaky clean plate my partner-in-crime left on the table.

Great food, but the real attraction is the live music! Every single staff member is extremely kind! Give it a shot! (try the Good Neighbor)

Nick, is there anything better than live music and great food? Can't wait to see you again! Best, Rhonda C.

The potato soup, portabella mushroom sandwich and the cherry crepe are all excellent. My favorites.

I went to Magpies with my best friend. We decided to try somewhere new! Well... It seems like magpies was not a good option. The food was alright. I loved my sandwich (chicken salad) but my "Caesar salad" tasted like they used mayonnaise on it instead of Caesar dressing. My friend enjoyed the potato soup but disliked her sandwich. The price Seemed high for what you were getting. The service was not good... The staff was dressed so casual like everybody else so I got confused on who was staff and who was just a customer. Also our waitress never checked up on us until the end when she took our plates and got our bill. I had to ask for refill because nobody bothered to come over (and it was not busy by any means) in fact I think it was just us and two other people in the inside portion. And last but not least... I saw in the corner of my eye something moving and it was a mouse!! Yes... It looked like straight out of a movie. Luckily I'm not afraid of Mice and it just ran across the floor and was gone. Once we got our bill we went over to the front to pay and I decided to mention the mouse. I said it in a very nice and respectful way. And the lady raised her voice and said "OH MY GOODNESS DO NOT TELL ME THAT" and explained why they had mice. Overall we decided to never go back.... Rude service, mice, overpriced and food wasn't the best.

It was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in 56 years of dining out. First off, the Host was an unkempt, filthy young man wearing yesterday's clothes with a filthy white ball cap on that looked like it was used to wipe down a car engine and couldn't care less if you were seated or taken care of. I still don't understand what his function was there. The waitress took forever and there were only 3 other tables occupied because she was busy chatting with the kitchen help. My date and I waited for over 10 minutes just to place our drink order. Blah, blah, blah...I ordered a French Dip sandwich. The French bread was supposedly made in house and was white and doughy, under baked and tasted like raw biscuit dough, no crunch at all. There was not enough beef on the French dip to call it a sandwich. I also ordered the potato/bacon soup. It was cold as a cadaver. We ended up with the bill that was way too high for what we'd ordered. They had to straighten that out too. BTW, we were sitting outside to dine. When we left we walked by the front door of the interior of the restaurant. The front door was open, and as we walked by were hit with a breeze that smelled of a rancid buss tub. We questioned if that was what it smelled like in the dining area. I would never, ever eat there again.
