My story, "The Silhouette and the Smoke", is available in this month's Penumbra.

Wow, The Muppets. Things overheard from the audience afterwards: "I laughed the entire time", and "I laughed so much I started to cry." When the first few banjo plucks of "Rainbow Connection" came up, the only sound to be heard was me drawing a single deep breath to hold. Nostalgia can be a very powerful thing.

Oh yes. (Or ~totally unnecessary~.)
"Sarcasm"

We have been trying to figure out how to express sarcasm on G+ and this is what I learned today: +Allison Sekuler told me that +Lisa DeBruine came up with the idea of using the tilde around comments to express sarcasm. As in, "That's a ~brilliant~ idea." Meaning, of course, one really thought it wasn't one. Of course, in Lisa's case it WAS a brilliant idea!

So, I'll start using it!!!!!! And we'll see who else chimes in. I hope +Guy Kawasaki and +Robert Scoble are awake and see this and they will then make it go to a million people in a few seconds!

Cellular biology imaged.
This is in my opinion the most beautiful and best animation ever made on cellular biology. It wonderfully animates the amazing symphony of biological machinery in action within each cell.

Harvard University selected XVIVO to develop an animation that would take their cellular biology students on a journey through the microscopic world of a cell, illustrating mechanisms that allow a white blood cell to sense its surroundings and respond to an external stimulus. This award winning piece was the first topic in a series of animations XVIVO is creating for Harvards educational website BioVisions at Harvard.

Get into robots on the cheap. The ending is cool. Materials are the 3 servos, some wood (4 paint sticks), hot glue, a couple of screws and some thread locking fluid. The servos are controlled by an AXE230, and batteries are used as balancing weight.

A well-written article on the differences between Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party.
for those of you saying "but OWS doesn't have an AGENDA! It isn't offering ANSWERS!..." you might want to read this.

"...there’s something profoundly anti-capitalist about the critics of OWS. It’s a movement about which capitalists, real capitalists who work hard and smart, have nothing to fear. Oligarchs, on the other hand, should be afraid, very afraid."
