2 Writing Exercises That Will Transform Your Copy Today

Effective   #copywriting   boils down to one thing: keying into your prospect’s overriding need.Your headline is the means of stopping your prospect in his tracks, of focusing his attention on one single thought: that overriding need.

The rest of your copy must amplify that need.
When it does, your product emerges as the fulfillment, and it overcomes lethargy, skepticism, and price. Keep in mind: you can’t create this need. You can only expand on it and bring it into greater focus. You can only channel it into a goal … namely, your product

Demian Farnworth provides 12 exercises that help you flesh out and sharpen the overriding need your copy must focus on -- without repeating yourself.

60% of "Direct" Traffic is Actually from SEO

This experiment from Groupon: http://searchengineland.com/60-direct-traffic-actually-seo-195415 strongly suggests there's still a ton of wrongly attributed "direct" traffic that isn't from type-in or bookmarks, but rather, comes from organic search efforts.  h/t +Rand Fishkin

"Riding the Roof of the World" at Starry Mount Everest

A lone motorcycle wends its way to Mount Everest's Base Camp, approaching from the Chinese side. In the native language of Tibet, Mount Everest's name is Chomolungma, often translated as "mother of the universe." In the darkening sky, above the snow and ice flanked Himalayas, the yellow-red star Antares at the Scorpion's heart rises at left; to its right the stars of Centaurus shine their blue light over the top of the world. Note that the Everest Base Camp is made up of two separate camps, -- on opposite sides of Chomolungma. The North Base Camp is in Tibet and lies at 16,900 ft

If you're looking for a Super high end luxury hotel the Claremont Hotel and Spa has got you covered. Located in the fancy Berkeley hills, this place is a true landmark for the old world beauty of Berkeley. Its architecture is so amazing that the hotel can be seen from across the bay in SF. It kind of looks like a castle. Each room is clean and breathtaking. Some of the rooms face and give you views San Francisco while others give have views of the scenic Berkeley wooded hills. The tennis courts are top notch. It is great place for seminars and business conferences. Bring cash though and expect to pay $20 for a egg breakfast.

This Hilton is one the most luxurious places to stay off the 41's Ave in Santa Cruz. The lobby is wonderfully decorated and so are the rooms, It located within a short walking distance to Capitola beach and the world famous surf spot Pleasure Point.

This is the most modern eco-friendly designed hotel in all of Santa Cruz. I love the rooms that have lots of natural wood inside them along with an ipod charging dock. The pool area is great for bringing your children on hot summer day, with the cabana's, you almost get a real Las Vegas experience. It is quite reasonably priced at $250 a night considering how luxurious it is. Please check it out. If you need a place to hold an event such as Tedx Santa Cruz, the Paradox has got you covered.
