About us
Maas Fruit Quality Inspection BV, abbreviated MFQI, was founded in 2003. Right from the outset, the company’s activities have continually increased, and it now employs 35 motivated and certified members of staff.
We are a versatile and close-knit team, with a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

The company’s package of services may have grown over the years along with the company, but the foundation has remained unchanged; integrity and independence. We put the customer first, we embrace the demands and preferences of the market, and respond with services which match them. In addition to quality inspections, we supervise ripening processes, train people, provide consultancy services in the broadest sense of the word, and can provide inspectors on secondment.

Our experience and expertise have put us in a position to see the bigger picture on your behalf. We take care of all our customers’ worries during the process, and safeguard the quality of their products. We are interested in our customers, and get them involved in improving our services. We are also up-to-date on applicable laws and regulations.

The wide range of services we provide means we’re often put in the role of consultant. We show our customers what we see, so that they can move forward. We always fulfil the role that best suits customer expectations. This may be a single role, but more often than not involves multiple roles at the same time; inspector, mediator, advisor, trainer, ripening expert and process supervisor.

Our aim is to raise the level and quality of knowledge within the fruit and vegetable sector, where our cooperation with N&S Academy marks a significant step forward.

We cherish our independence. Because of the strong added value we always bring to our customers, we are able to remain independent.
MFQI represents high quality, clear and transparent communication, putting the customer first, and integrity. We only have satisfied customers, because we’ll always find a solution where there is room for improvement. In fact, we’re the best, but we never say it out loud; we prefer that our customers find it out for themselves.

Training
We have a great deal of knowledge concerning fruit and vegetables. Since it takes years of experience to become a good inspector, we decided to train our inspectors in-house.
However, our passion for the fruit and vegetable sector goes a step further; our aim is to raise the level and quality of knowledge within the fruit and vegetable sector.

Our cooperation with N&S Academy reflects this objective. We have been sharing and teaching our knowledge and passion in a number of industry-approved modules offered by N&S Academy since 2009. Our teacher has extensive knowledge and experience of hard fruit, soft fruit, stone fruit, citrus fruit, exotics, foreign fruit, herbs, sprouts and cresses, as well as expertise in areas such as regulations, quality assurance, cooling and storage.

Our teacher can teach the N&S Academy modules anywhere in the world, in Dutch, English or French.

Advice
At MFQI, we look at the big picture, and our broad experience means we can be consulted on issues in all kinds of areas. We place great value on long-term customer contact. Communication is important to us, so we listen to our customers.

We operate independently, give customers a second opinion, and, if necessary, consult with the inspection body which carried out the first inspection of the imported or exported batch. We mediate between stakeholders, and are only satisfied when everybody can agree to the solution found.

We also advise our clients on packaging, repacking and storage.

On request, we can be consulted at every stage of the process, from cultivation to consumption. We regularly visit growers around the world.
Thanks to our years of experience and knowledge of the market and the process, we have acquired the necessary expertise to be able to give recommendations which result in better quality products in all stages of the process.

All advisory recommendations requested by a customer are discussed and included in a comprehensive report tailor-made for the customer concerned.

MFQI has extensive experience and in-house knowledge on ripening all kinds of fruit, including mangos, avocados and kiwis. We currently manage the ripening process for various well-known customers.

Our ripening managers are specialists in using both heat and ethylene in the ripening process, and also understand the software used in computer-controlled ripening cells.

During the ripening process, we measure the ripeness, dry matter content, spoilage, and temperature of products. We monitor both the quality of products and the ripening process itself.

We process the progress of the ripening in clear reports with photos and recommendations. If necessary or desired, we can explain what we do verbally, so all our actions are transparent and understood by customers.
