The Christmas holiday is when I typically update the #history pages of my site. Of course while researching what happened in the #prepress and #printing industry in 2014, I stumbled across lots of other facts and trivia, like when the first 96-page offset press was launched or when Adobe ditched Creative Suite. You try to create one page and end up revising 10 others as well. It was a fun trip down memory lane for a history buff like me.

I am not good at Illustrator so creating a few  simple drawings of basic folding schemes for my #prepress site took me ages. Good exercise, though!

I reworked the page about RAID on my site - fixing some embarrassing mistakes and using the opportunity to embed SVG graphics. On a retina iPad this looks much better than those old GIF-images.

Looking back at 2012, the year was much more interesting from a business point of view than from the software side of things - http://www.prepressure.com/prepress/history/events-2012

Looking back 2011 may not have been a great year but at least it was an interesting one.

A new year, a new look (well.... for my web site at least).
It got a bit more colorful, has its own set of fonts now and there is even a drop shadow to be found. What better way to spend rainy winter days than by struggling with HTML5 semantics and the best CSS3 @font-face syntax?

I saw this Compugraphic Editwriter 7500 in the MIAT museum in Gent, Belgium yesterday. It is 35 years old but it is still a beautiful machine.

While reading in his biography how Steve Jobs could fret over a single pixel in an application, I noticed how the Kindle iPad app can't even get entire sentences right. Time for a rant!

Yet another evening spent browsing through the collection of photochroms on the web site of the Library of Congress. Along the way I put 10 of the most beautiful pictures of harbors with sailing ships and steamers on my site.

Yet another evening spent watching photochroms. This time I had a look at the collection of English postcards.
