Advent door #13 - The Nutcracker, the quintessential christmas ballet was originally commissioned by the Russian Imperial Theatre in 1892, but wasn't an immediate success- critics at the St Petersburg premier declared there was nothing about it to like !

I promise this will be my last bird related post for a bit ... but this Starling mural by Netherlands-based artists Super A and Collin van der Sluijs is just incredible. On the side of a residential building in Berlin, it's 137 colourful feet tall and should probably have been called Big Bird !

It's still snowing outside - and I can only think of one thing better than just relaxing in front of a roaring fire and that's being cosy beside a roaring fire with one of these - Toasted Marshmallow cocktails !

These amazing knit bombing Christmas decorations appeared overnight - bringing a festive feel to our village high street & bus stop, raising a smile & getting everyone talking. What a great thing to achieve with a few balls of wool & some needles !

It's not just people that need a cosy home at this time of year .. love this danish project by Thomas Dambo, who makes birdboxes out of recyled wood and paint. So far over 3500 stylish urban boxes have been put up for rent !

Time is tight, to-do lists are long, but making is soothing & can help to lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone)" Make this frosty paper bough for your home and enjoy it's simple pleasure long after chistmas is over.
