Just saying a big thank you to +Michael Keyes at Photographic Dreams for helping create the greatest Floyd Mardi Gras yet!

As Blue Mountain School's major fundraiser, the success of Floyd Mardi Gras means a lot more than giving plenty of people a good party. It also means helping kids get a type of education they can't get anywhere else around here; an education that fosters creativity and empowers our students to develop their innate talents, all the while developing their emotional intelligence and self-knowledge.

The money he helped raise through his photo booth at the event will go towards ensuring that our high proportion of students on scholarships will be able to continue receiving this invaluable experience. So we say thank you; from me, from the school, from those students, and from their families.

But he also did something more. He helped make the Floyd community a little more cohesive, as people from all walks of life came and enjoyed the festivities; and he helped the many patrons from outside the county see the fun, festive side of Floyd we all love to share with the world. He helped make Floyd even a little bit better than it already was!

We are truly grateful for his support. We couldn't have done it without him.

Bangladesh & Mrs Jones: With over 300 people dead in a collapsed sweatshop in Bangladesh, plus a string of earlier incidents—including 111 in a fire in November—is it time we started asking what part we play in these accidents?

Playing Chicken: With somewhere around 120,000 civilian deaths in Iraq; 16,000 in Afghanistan; hundreds more in drone strikes over Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia; and a total of over 10 million foreign deaths as a direct result of U.S. military and economic interventions since those nuclear blasts in Japan, it’s totally understandable that there could be people out there who want to kill us.
