Copenhagen Dreams of Becoming Carbon Neutral by 2025

I traveled to Denmark a few years ago on a visit to see family who live in Sweden. There is a bit of a sibling-rivalry type relationship between Sweden and Denmark and Norway due to a long history of war dating back to the Viking era.

In one respect, I think Denmark is winning the battle for energy. While Norway and Sweden are progressive, the Danes take it a step further in their energy production. Wind is huge for their country, and the massive structures dot the coastline and sea all around Denmark.

Between 2007 and 2011, profits from wind grew by nearly 200 percent from 81 million euro to 240 million, while the exploration and production sector rose nearly 140 percent from 321 million euros to 758 million.

Can Denmark become the first completely carbon neutral country? What do you think?
