Staying safe on and off-piste

Skiing and snowboarding is all about enjoying yourself on the slopes, no matter what your level is. Thinking about ski safety is also something that we should all think about, both for ourselves but also for everyone else around us.

Here are some basic tips we've put together with a focus on both on and off-piste safety. If you're interested in even more information about off-piste safety then check out +Henry's Avalanche Talk

Stunning view across the Tarentaise Valley

After the snow comes the sun! Here's a sunset view across the valley from La Rosiere showing that we've been blessed with quite a bit of fresh snow recently.

Weather outlook for this week looks bright and clear with the possibility of a little more fresh snow towards the end of the week.

Official Statement - weekend travel transfers update

Green Rides ski would first of all like to thank all of our clients who departed last week for their patience on their transfer. Some transfer buses took 9 hours to complete a 2 hour journey and many clients were stranded overnight in the airport due to cancelled flights. Some of our drivers were on the road for over 24 hours which I'm sure you can appreciate would be tough on anyone.

The return journey wasn't any better and I would like to take this moment now to thank all our clients for their understanding and patience during a horrid journey into resort. As most of you know already, over 1 metre of snow fell across the Alps in 12 hours making traffic conditions horrific and quite dangerous.

What comes in must go out!!

More snow is forecast for this weekend and local traffic agencies have predicted yet more chaos on the roads therefore ALL Green Rides transfer buses this weekend, will be leaving the valley before 0600 regardless of flight times.

Those clients with later flight times, I hope you understand why Green Rides are doing this and I'm sure you would rather sit in an airport a few extra hours than miss your flights. After 10 years experience in the valley, we feel that leaving this early will avoid disappointment. Our clients and their safety is a top priority for Green Rides ski.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy new year and look forward to seeing you in the future.

Martyn and the Green Rides management team

Fresh snow in La Rosiere, just in time for Christmas

Here's a photo taken by Lizzy, one of our chalet hosts (Chalet Bruyere) showing the amount of fresh snow we've had here in La Rosiere over the past few hours. More expected in the next couple of days so we should be pretty well set for Christmas ☺

Christmas in the Alps is nearly here!

As well as the usual stuff on the slopes, there's heaps of things happening around the Alps at Christmas time. We've put together this handy guide of seasonal activities that are scheduled in and around the resorts close to us.

So whether it's the Ladies Words Cup Downhill in Val d'Isere, a monster fireworks night in Tignes, Father Christmas in Les Arcs or Santa's parade here in La Rosiere there should be plenty of festive fun.
