Been a while since I've posted anything.  Do you ever get so down on your own work that it becomes prohibitive?  That's were I have been.  Oh well, from talking to other photographers I think it's something that everyone goes through.

Sorry been away for a good while, completely neglecting my G+ account.  Here are a couple of shots I took recently.

Man in the crowd!

Snapped this portrait of the (fantastic) guitarist Padraig Meehan of 'Those Nervous Animals'. An excellent band from Sligo that originally formed in 1981. I captured this after he had just played a set and was relaxing with a beer, watching Rackhouse Pilfer at their album launch. I couldn't speak to him due to the volume of the music but did my best "do you mind if I take a photograph?" shake of the camera and took this. Thanks Padraic - love your work.

Snapped this shot of Harry the Silverback Gorilla during a recent visit to the Congo.  Ahhhh you got me, when I say the Congo I meant Dublin Zoo, Ireland actually.

For those of you that know it, this view from under the fairy bridge in Forest Park (County Roscommon, Ireland) is often a dim and (sadly) rubbish strewn one. But this lovely autumn morning graced it with some sun and lit the shaded woods beautifully.

Medium Format (digital) question.
I'm really interested I peoples experience and thoughts on their use of the various MF systems. While I'm not looking to print billboard sized images I'm am interested in the quality and look MF can provide. Mostly in portrait work both in and outside of the studio. (Mostly location shooting)
But here is the challenge... With a limited budget of around 10-12k this leaves me with the entry level Hasselblad h4d, Pentax 645 or various options on used systems. I am really interested in the Phase One options but, again would only be looking at used options. Oh and I know the Nikon D800 has had some great ( and not so great) reviews and as a Nikon user I have a good collection of glass. So I guess a secondary question is, can a smaller full frame (people's experience only please) offer a real challenge to the MF cameras? Thanks in advance. Oh and if it helps - I'm not really interested in handling differences only thoughts on quality. Cheers.
