An interesting viewpoint. But it's not the designers who are to blame. It ultimately falls to the 'girly-girls' who will buy a device with inferior specs at a higher price. Ultimately, consumers are responsible for educating themselves.
Moreover, a number of the examples used are invalid or misleading. Many of the price points comparisons are not apt, since they compare different ranges of products sold at different times of the year, and since many frankly ignore the 'bundling' that goes on with so-called womanphones, like the HTC Rhyme.
Finally, expecting a phone manufacturer to ignore good market research which says there IS a demographic that will pay more for less is naive to the point of foolishness. If you want to see a difference in the behavior of manufacturers, it ultimately comes down to eliminating demand for such products.
Pink is not the enemy. Stupid is the enemy.
