Mellow Johnny's is a full service bike shop in Downtown Austin. We have bikes for all skill levels and style, parts, clothing, and a super fast repairs department. Add to that showers, lockers, training center, and cafe, you can spend a lot of time here, and we'd love that.

This shop does have a nice atmosphere and the memorabilia on display is cool but this is by far the worst bike shop i have been to. I got them to have a look at my bike because my shifting had been a bit sloppy and while the mechanic did fix that he caused a number of other problems with the headset bottom bracket etc that made the bike unusable and I had to bring it to another shop to get it fixed. And the worst thing was that he lowered my seatpost (after me just having it fit professionally) to the very bottom for no reason at all. He then charged me $110 dollar for ten minutes work! Ridiculously poor standard of work by mechanics and an overpriced shop in general. Please DO NOT bring your bike into Mellow Johnny's to get it fixed

Bill is the ONLY reason my boyfriend and I purchased 2 Public bikes at Mellow Johnny's. He is extremely knowledgeable about the products and didn't make me feel stupid for asking questions as I have zero knowledge about bikes. He helped with everything- even showing and HELPING me assemble my bike rack twice. He went above and beyond on several occasions and always had a cool attitude about it. I wish every business had employees like Bill. Seriously. Mellow Johnny's- GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE!!!

Had my bike tire fixed here this morning. They were able to get to it quickly wich was much appreciated! As I was waiting I walked around the store - decent selection of bikes and accessories but a little bit on the pricey side. Check the chalkboard for weekly/bi-weekly groups rides they host as well if you're interested!

Went in my first time. The staff was so helpful in teaching me all I needed to know in selecting a bike. Will stop by here to buy my bicycles from now on just because I can trust these guys.

I bought my trek 820 here and was satisfied with my purchase. The reason why I'm giving them 4 stars is because of the service. It's been 2~3 months since I moved to Austin and live right next to the boardwalk it seemed like a good idea to start biking everywhere so I had very little knowledge of bikes and wanted to get some from Mellow Johnny's. But they were too busy helping other people and once they got to us they weren't that helpful, so I did my research and ordered the 820 and got it made here. I guess my only reason why I made my purchase it at this store was bc they had trek bikes. It would have been nice to get some friendly information but it looked like they were too busy for noobies like me.

Very cool bike shop. This one was made famous by awesome cyclist Lance Armstrong. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great selection of items. This is my goto place for the good stuff, when I really need something for cycling...

I rented a road bike from Mellow Johnny's for a triathlon and had a great experience. I reserved my bike online and in my infinite wisdom, booked a woman's bike for a 24 hour rental. I had no idea this had even happened until I got there. Luckily the employee (wish I could remember his name) worked with me and got me set up this the appropriate ride for a guy my size. The following day it rained real hard and I couldnt get the bike back within the allotted 24 hrs and went a couple over. Again they were understanding and worked with me. I will definitely be back to rent again and hopefully, one day, to buy a nice bike. Thank you Mellow Johnny's, you saved the day!

Cool building with a decent presentation but it lacks costumer service and that bike shops friendliness all shops should have. For a big shop the variety is on the low side but good quality stuff for the most part. The coffee shop is a great touch allowing a hang out for school and work projects on the computer or a friendly gathering of bike enthusiasts but the over all feel of this shop is not welcoming.
