Shimano: we’ve tested wireless shifting but there’s no demand for it. What do you think? http://ow.ly/3aDCz2
Shimano has confirmed that it has tested a wireless shifting system, but has not brought it close to release with no demand from either teams or consumers.

Is Shimano losing teeth to make lighter, better shifting chainrings? http://ow.ly/3b851H
If the recent silent freehub design we found is any indication, Shimano is looking at ways to reduce noise, friction and drag in some creative ways. And perhaps this chainring design, which we found in yet another patent application from the drivetrain giant, is even more creative despite its utter simplicity. Want to reduce weight? …

5th edition of Zinn & The Art of Road Bike Maintenance gets at old and new tech http://ow.ly/3aWlBc
Lennard Zinn’s maintenance books have been the gold standard for home mechanics for many years, and we’ve seen a number of shop rats who got their start thumbing through the pages. All in all his guides are the most popular resource worldwide for bicycle repair and maintenance, from basic tire and tube changes to complicated drivetrain …

Great spot for all things bike. Outstanding customer experience from memorabilia hanging throughout to the built in cafe and even has a spin studio downstairs. Group rides nearly every day. Oh and they sell awesome bikes from Trek ,Cannondale , Chris King, and Seven.

Great place great. Great atmosphere all the employes are nice and try to get to know you. Very interesting to look at Lance Armstrong equipment bikes, jerseys, etc. recommended if you live in the area or just passing through.

This shop does have a nice atmosphere and the memorabilia on display is cool but this is by far the worst bike shop i have been to. I got them to have a look at my bike because my shifting had been a bit sloppy and while the mechanic did fix that he caused a number of other problems with the headset bottom bracket etc that made the bike unusable and I had to bring it to another shop to get it fixed. And the worst thing was that he lowered my seatpost (after me just having it fit professionally) to the very bottom for no reason at all. He then charged me $110 dollar for ten minutes work! Ridiculously poor standard of work by mechanics and an overpriced shop in general. Please DO NOT bring your bike into Mellow Johnny's to get it fixed

Hi Oran, I am so sorry to hear about your negative experience. We pride ourselves on great customer service, and when we hear something like this it's heartbreaking. We'd love the chance to earn your business. I'd like to offer you a $25 gift certificate towards anything in the store. If you are interested, drop me an email and I will put the credit in the system. Or, if you have any questions or other comments, we'd love to hear from you. Thanks very much. I have only been in Austin about six months. Today was the first time I needed bike repairs other than tires, tubes, and brakes. This time is was the "freewheel", which they had in stock for $24.99 plus $2.72 tax. With $8.00 for labor, my total was $35.71 and they had me back on the road in less than an hour. I would not hesitate to have more repairs done here, or buy equipment, or even buy a whole new bike. Also, it's nice to be able to sit in the cafe, sip coffee, and chat with other cyclists while the mechanics are doing their work.
