Calling All Podcasters - Hey, guys.
I record a small set of podcasts and am looking to expand the content that is covered and the number of shows that we produce. I am specifically looking to start a few initiatives right now:
- reconstitute the cast for my main video games podcast; other members have taken other obligations
- start a show on technology, including mobile, PC, and cultural topics
- start a show that is primarily a content discussion show - movies, comics, games, and TV
The primary thrust of the shows we produce is to create content that reflects the thoughts and opinions of the average joe on the street, and not the media or journalists view. We generally try to provide commentary that we think the typical listener (and by that I mean from the casual enthusiast in any of these areas up through the consumer power-user, but any group that does not have its opinion driven by inside industry info; in other words, people just like the ones that record the show). These shows are not paid, and we do not monetize or do advertising. We just record them and put them out there for whomever might listen. Most of us try to turn on friends and family members to the shows, and we see some buzz get generated via the cast's social networks and contacts. Recording times and frequencies vary by cast; each cast works out what is best for them as a team and sets their own go-times. Typical shows right now record monthly or bi-weekly. The shows wind up being a good opportunity to work on your radio voice, public speaking, generate thoughts for any online writing that you do, or just serve as an outlet for discussing tech and gaming topics that your day-to-day social circle does not provide. Minimum age for participation is 18, working adults are preferred, but anyone 18 or over can apply.
We record using Skype and communicate primarily via our FaceBook page. We only do audio recordings.
If you're interested, you can reach me via my Google+ account or pages. Look for Agasicles Stamas on Google+ and check out the podcast pages under that account at The Regular Joe Gamer Podcast. Let me know if you have problems finding the accounts. You can also reach me via Steam, the PlayStation Network, or Raptr under the username Zeuxidamas. You can also contact me via my FaceBook page under Agasicles Stamas. Once you indicate interest and establish comms, I'll want to take a look at some of your forum posts and have a quick talk over Skype just to get a feel for how well you will sync with the group. Our only rule is that we do not do combative, argumentative shows, and try to respect each others opinions as colleagues from the same community. People disagree, but we try to allow room for everyone's opinion and discuss our differences of opinion in a healthy manner. We try to keep most of the shows family friendly so that anyone can listen, but if we get a cast together for one of these shows that wants to allow explicit dialogue and profanity, we can talk about it.
Looking forward to hearing form some folks. Take care.
