A modern, chic restaurant with an open, warm feel and fun happy hour. Salt House is a popular lunch and dinner spot, so reservations are almost always necessary. Happy hour is fun here to, especially at the community table. Drinks are good, food is delicious and I certainly recommend the oysters. Tough spot for large groups. Service isn't quick but typically very good.

The Salt House is good, but not great. For 5-star pricing, this downtown spot has food that should surprise you. Don't get me wrong, the food is cooked properly and seems to be high quality, but there's nothing that inventive on the menu. Come here for a classic SF meal that won't disappoint you, but it wont get your juices going either.

The poutine is great here and a nice surprise. The cod was cooked perfectly and the caramel popcorn dessert was amazing. The staff was friendly and the drink menu had a decent selection to choose from. It can get a little loud, but it is fun watching the chefs cook all the delicious meals.

Came here with a large group for dinner on a Saturday night. The service was a bit slow, but it was Saturday and all tables were filled. They serve fresh Acme bread and butter, which is always a plus. I ordered the fish, which was very light and not very flavorful. My husband got the beef duo, which was a lot tastier than the fish. The short rib was moist and the sirloin was tender. I would definitely recommend ordering the beef duo.

I've worked a block away from Salt House for the past two years and just stepped foot into it last week. The restaurant is two levels with a bustling bar and open kitchen on the first level. Dreamforce was going on at the time, so that may have impacted the amount of traffic but every table was full and there was a steady turnover. Our waitress was fantastic but the service was slow getting our drinks. I had the beet and burratta salad to start which was absolutely fantastic and the scallops entree which was equally impressive. I finished my meal with a cup of really flavorful coffee and the seasonally appropriate pumpkin cheesecake. We really enjoyed the food here and will definitely return. Reservations are definitely needed!

Really great vibe, food, and wine. Dish was about $26, so it's pricier than the norm. I really recommend going with a small group, 4-5 people, and sitting in the loft area.
