Any seasoned designer will tell you that the first round of designs are intended to raise more questions than provide answers. When kicking off with a new client, a big part of my personal notes focus questions I’m eager to explore with them. Within a day or two, I can collect these questions into a format that gets the conversation about design started.

Just wanted to know if any of you guys is still using Play 1.x. I picked it up last year, after a year and a half struggling with Spring (which I still totally respect nonetheless), and I haven't yet found a solid reason to switch. with Play, I managed to complete 5 projects for the same that it took me to do one before. I know that Play 2.x is substantially different, but that does not necessarily mean better.

I like the fact that 1.x is kept to the bare minimum, and it really does not impose itself throughout the whole time. I can quickly cut out a couple of HTML with the built-in templating, to prove a point, and then I can just as easily switch those to JSON, and render on the client. Works awesome, and I hope that the Play team still has it in mind to keep supporting the 1.x branch.

What kind of makes me feel sorry for 1.x is that the developer community almost entirely switched to 2.x, and one has a hard time finding good resources for 1.x any more. I am kind of hoping to find a couple of 1.x believers like me here

I am a strong fan of play 1.x and it's powerful simplicity.
