I had softened my anti-Trump stance somewhat after considering that allowing Hillary to appoint several Supreme Court justices would be devastating for the country. That was before Trump spent 12 minutes publicly attacking in a very personal way the judge in the Trump University case. It is astounding that one who aspires to think for the entire country doesn't think it would be smart to keep quiet about the judge in your high profile fraud case. WHO IS THIS GUY?
The presumptive GOP nominee devotes 12 minutes of a 58-minute address to the suit

It's hard to believe that this nation cannot come up with better presidential candidates than Hillary and Trump, neither one of which is close to being an honest person.

I know this is a long article but it is well worth the read.  It states clearly why Cruz is not just the best candidate in this current race, but may actually be the leader we have been looking for.

I would like very much to see an end to the winner take all method of assigning delegates in the primaries.  It seems to me to move power away from the voters.  What good can come from not assigning delegates in the proportion of the votes.

Also need to get rid of the 1,237 delegate minimum. Otherwise the liberal democrats who run the GOP can just throw away the vote and nominate whoever they want.

That is what John Hitler Kasich is counting on.

Anyone who believes that socialism can work for the people of a country need to read about Venezuela and how socialism has affected its economy and its citizens' quality of life
Hospitals lack basic medications and birth control is scarce as the country reels from an economic crisis.

An anti Trump article very well worth reading is in the National Review.  It needs to be read by all those who support Trump

After recently upgrading my Arch system, Clementine broke.  When I try to play an mp3, I see an error message: "GStreamer could not create the element: autoaudiosink.  Please make sure that you have installed all necessary GStreamer plugins f(eg OGG and MP3"  The kernel was upgraded from 4.4.5-1 to 4.5.0-1 and Clementine was upgraded from 1.2.3 to 1.3.  I have installed
gstreamer0.10-bad,
gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins,
gstreamer0.10-base,
gstreamer0.10-base-plugins,
gstreamer0.10-good,
gstreamer0.10-good-plugins,
gstreamer0.10-ugly,
gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins, and
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg.
Any ideas?

+Ryan Christie I agree.  I installed tomahawk just to see what its like.  I like the album covers laid out, but I still prefer Clementine.

Today for several hours I interacted with tech support from Century Link in trying to get problems with a new/faster internet connection solved.  The symptoms were bizarre but should not have been overwhelming.  It was like trying to deal with folks on the other side of the bars at the zoo's monkey house.  Problem is that by now I'm not sure who was in and who was out.

I am reminded that today is Viet Nam Veterans Day.  I am proud of my service during that time, but after thinking about it for a long time I have come to some conclusions that I would like to share.  We should not go to war unless there are compelling reasons of national security to do so.  The reasons should be compelling enough for the president to seek and obtain the backing of congress and the public.  Once committed we should fight to win.  Those who commit us should be held accountable.  If we go to war and then quit or loose, the leaders responsible should be tried for murder.
Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert McDonald took time out of their busy schedules Tuesday to honor veterans of the Vietnam War.

Ash Carter doesn't seem to understand that bringing technical innovation to the Defense Department is the purpose and function of DARPA.  That's the same DARPA that brought you the internet.
Eric Schmidt, the former chief executive officer of Google, has agreed to head a new Pentagon advisory board aimed at bringing Silicon Valley innovation and best practices to the U.S. military, Defense Secretary Ash Carter said on Wednesday. Carter is due to discuss the new Defense Innovation Advisory Board with Schmidt during the annual RSA cybersecurity conference in San Francisco. Schmidt is now the executive chairman of Alphabet Inc , the par...

For quite awhile I have been attracted to the concept of Puppy Linux.  I like the idea of having a portable system on a USB stick that can save my data and configuration and that performs well from a ramdisk.  I have tried using Puppy several times in its variations (Puppy, Simplicity, etc), but find its look and feel and hand holding philosophy to be irritating.  Yesterday as an alternative I installed Arch with LXDE to a sandisk 16GB USB stick and was very pleasantly surprised by its very fast performance on a Dell E5410 notebook with 8GB ram.  Now I have a portable system that I can configure to satisfy me and that can save my data (music, photos, etc) on the stick along with the system.

puppy linux is interesting I think there are better distros but I was able to get it to run on a p2(les than a Ghz cpu 256 ram at best it may have been less) I suppose I may be able to do it with some others but puppy was full featured for what it was running on.

The taking of US Navy personnel by Iran is a good and sufficient reason to declare war on Iran.  Its time to stop their aggression toward the United States.

The food and service were surprisingly good. I had grilled tuna. It was a large portion on a bed of rice; done perfectly - slightly rare, and spiced just right. I cannot remember having better.

We cannot recommend Rincon highly enough. Food is authentic Cuban and very tasty. Portions are large enough that we always take some home. Cost is very inexpensive. The service is more than friendly - we have always been treated like family even though we are not Cuban.
