IF YOU DIVIDE THE PRICES BY 4 YOU WILL SEE YOUR VALUE!! FAMILY-STYLE MEANS YOU'RE GETTING ENOUGH FOOD FOR THE FAMILY!!! Used to work there...food is GREAT!!! ServICE depends on your servER. BEST nites are Thur n Sat for the Beef Tenderloin or the Prime Rib!! If not then then the Scarp Wings (available daily) will make you a regular guest. PLAN IT FOR A NITE OUT OF 4 OR MORE PPL to get your full value!! Meals are FAMILY STYLE...HUGE platters...and NOT BOTTOMLESS which after your first bite you will care little about!

Love this place. The staff is friendly and outgoing. The food is terrific and in huge volume. It does tend to get crowded at dinner.

When you walk in, don't let the prices hanging over the bar scare you. I had a hard justify paying $30 for a plate of pasta, but those prices are for a large portion that can feed 4 ppl. I ordered off the lunch (@6pm) menu, the price are reasonable, when my spaghetti and meatballs came out, I thought it was a mistake, because it was the largest small dish I have ever seen, i told the waiter, there is no way I could eat it all. He suggested that I try and so I did.. It was good and walk out of there feeling full and happy.

Good food, odd pricing. A lot of food, served family style. Better than Olive Garden. When we ordered we thought it was going to cost a ton and were happily surprised at the bill.

Just tried Carmine's for lunch. I give it 3 stars out of 5. This is not what we have experienced in other Italian "family style" restaurants. A group of us from our office wanted to try and compare to another Italian restaurant in the DC area that advertises "family style" and I would say Carmine's was not what we expected. Dish sizes would not serve two in the lunch portion as they advertised and we were really disappointed with the cream sauce. Don't go and expect Alfredo sauce, because they don't "do" Alfredo. If you want the Garlic to overpower the taste of the pasta, then go to Carmine's. It was too much Garlic for us that went for lunch. The strawberry shortcake is really a marble pound cake, but it had a mountain of whipped cream. Really a beautiful looking dessert, but "shortcake" it was not. I probably would have given them 3 stars if at least the service would have been average. When I think Italian "family" I think happy, smiling, jovial, welcoming service. Not today for our lunch. It was time away from the office and that was the good part for me. It was worth going just to compare, and decide that my first trip is my last trip.
