Antidepressants are big business. Since 2000, the NHS has spent £5 billion on antidepressants in England alone. Selling dangerous psychiatric drugs for profit may be good business, but it’s bad medicine.

Even if someone was convinced a ‘chemical imbalance’ in the brain did exist, it would follow that there would be a test to measure when the imbalance was corrected to form a ‘chemical balance.’ Sorry to disappoint anyone, but there isn’t a test to check for a balance or an imbalance. Therein lies the myth of the 'chemical imbalance'.

Over 1.2 million prescription items for ADHD drugs were dispensed in England in 2015, costing the tax payer just under £57 million. That’s a highly expensive, unscientific method for restraining poor behaviour.
