Already emailed and signed, just like Reddit and a few others. Will be calling congress/senators later today. Even with the current public outcry, I'm concerned this will still pass, but doing something is always better than doing nothing (even if it's almost nothing). ;)

"Your drive is not ready yet."

DAMN YOU, GOOGLE! Most people just had to wait 2-4 hours. Why so long for me? :(

ok that clear it up a bit for me. I just checked my amazon drive. I bought an album of classical music for like $1 and I have 20 gb's of space for w/e. The space for music bought from amazon is unlimited.

Got Arch Linux pretty much fully working inside of Android. Waiting for some guys to finish writing an X server for Android, then everything will be complete. For now, if I want X, I have to run it along with VNC then remote into it, but I'm content with just using a terminal over ssh. I've got vim, ruby, rails, nginx, postgres, git, etc all set up and functional, so I can now do all of my development locally right on my tablet. Previously I was using my tablet to ssh into an Arch VPS to dev, but that obviously has the downfall of requiring a low latency internet connection. Coding on the netbook-like Eee Pad Transformer has never been better. Now I just need to upgrade to a Tegra 3 model so that compiling things doesn't take as dreadfully long.

If anyone's interested in doing it themselves, let me know and I'll write up some instructions. All you need is root.

This was extremely helpful. However, I had just tried to share a post from Forbes. I do not have them blocked, they are the original poster. They do not have me blocked because I could comment and 1+. They did a Public posting. I did a public posting, it doesnt work... How can one do an update? Not sure what is going on.

ITC just sided with Apple in their case against HTC; prevents importing of several phones. The reasoning behind this injunction? All Android phones use a system for determining email addresses, http links, and phone numbers within a block of text and turns them into links for the various services. Apple has a patent on this. This is something that every modern technology does, and it's use predates Apple's patent by several decades. In essence, Apple has patented /\d{3}-\d{3}-\d{4}/. Not only is this wrong; it's fucking retarded.

I think that's PR mostly. Google is held in high regard because it is seen as a nicer, friendlier company. Apple doesn't focus on this. I bet that using this as a strategy has been up at the board of directors a couple of times at both companies.

I don't think Google tries to protect the customer in any particular way. Sure there are direct actions against fraudulent e-mail or search results that will direct a user to malware but that protects Google as much as the consumers. Who knows when some idiot sues Google because he got scammed by some Nigerians sening him e-mail to his gmail account.. Or searches for German scheiße porn leads him to all sorts of nasty sites (don't search for that). I believe that Google tries to imagine what consumers want and how to best make that, but the goal is to get more customers(or build up a consumer base as a product) and keep the current consumers happy, not just make the world a place of double rainbows and unicorns. I'm too cynical for that.

Google gained a powerful tool with G+. Now we have identified ourselves to Google. This integrated with gmail and Google search means Google controls vast amount of information about you. Far more than Apple. Apple may be a nuisance or threat to other companies but as far as Evil Overlord plans go, Apple is a gnat compared to Google. Not saying Google is exploiting this (yet), but again - profit rules.
