So far this year, I have reached a level of #running   that I never thought possible. Since the beginning of 2014 I've only taken 5 days off from running and I feel that I'm in the best shape I've ever been. Today, during my midweek long run, I started to wonder why. After much thought, I finally found my answer... I stopped caring what everyone else thought. (And then I wrote a blog about) :) #fitness   #health

I've been half way working on handstands for a year or so now. Recently I came across an article titled "Handstands will Make you Better at Everything" and it got me thinking that maybe I should practice a little more.

This one line in particular really stood out to me: "Are you ready to approach it with discipline, practicing often, even daily if necessary? You are no longer trying to merely increase your reps;  now you are working to improve yourself, master difficult skills, and achieve long-term goals."

I think that's why I think the handstand is so much cooler than lifting weights at the gym. It does take discipline, both physically and mentally. You have to practice, a lot. It's a skill and it is an exercise where you progressively see yourself getting better.

I've improved but I still have a ways to go #fitness

Kudos to The Today Show for their Love Your Selfie campaign. Today was No Makeup Monday and I thought it only fair to join in the fun.  It wasn't bad at all. :)  #loveyourselfie   #nomakeupmonday

I have taken two days off since the race and I'm finally starting to walk a little better, but still a lot of pain. The crutches are a big help. I'm having to really convince myself to NOT go to the gym for cycling this afternoon. My hip needs a little more recovery time before I start cross training. I'm trying to do all of the right things so I can get back out there running again but this is tough. It's all about perspective though.

While watching some interesting MInute Physics videos, I came across this one about Racewalking. What do you think? Is it a sport :)

This is the article my husband sent me this morning. I think he's trying to tell me something.  Fortunately, because I've never been an organized person, I've never liked a lot of "stuff" either. But I might need a little more than t his guy...

Today's blog couldn't be about running. The CHS community lost an amazing student yesterday and the world is a better place because of him. I needed to take a moment to remember just how important kindness is in our  crazy world...
