I love that Dinah Shore sings this song. She did an album of contemporary songs for Capitol in '76 and this was on the album. It's great that a 60 year old woman who was still getting quite a bit of action (Frank Langella and of course Burt Reynolds) in her autmnal years could give a wry, bemused reading of this tune. I'm sure she's experienced all 50 ways and then some.

That's director Nunnally Johnson between Marilyn and Lauren. Betty must be in the ladies.

Nat King Cole's version is that best. Great to have it on video. This is a great episode. Ginger Rogers and George Burns are Dinah's other guests.  Dinah and Nat duet on two tunes with Nat at the piano which are also on YouTube as well as an intriguing quartet with the four stars. And The Song Is You is the best Frank Sinatra book out there!

Doing my show "It Was Me--The Lyrics of Norman Gimbel" one more time! Saturday, March 30th, 7:30pm at Don't Tell Mama on west 46th between 8th & 9th Avenue.

Tex Arnold did the masterful arrangements and plays piano while the superb Jon Burr is on bass. It's fun! Come see.

Make believe you're in a jungle movie
watch the baby elephants go by
the beat is groovy
it's a brand new dance you oughta try

Come to the jungle
and see the animal attraction
baby elephant's attraction walk

See the big bad blue beat on the congo
as the baby elephants advance
Down in the congo
All the screaming monkees do this dance

Come to the jungle
and see the animal attraction
Baby Elephant's attraction walk

If you plan on joining our safari
Don't get dressed for going on a cruise
the thing to carry
is an extra pair of dancing shoes

Come to the jungle
and see the animal attraction
baby elephants attraction walk

Did I get the lyrics right? Kind of hard to make out, especially what I have as "see the big bad blue beat on the congo."

The very last number, and the very last "MWAH" from the very last episode of NBC's Dinah Shore Show, which started as a fifteen minute show back in 1951.

The good news, besides the fact that this clip exists at all, is that it also exists in vivid and beautiful color, as it was originally aired. Stored safely in a vault at Research Video, which controls all of Dinah Shore's programs. Hopefully, it will be available someday.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've seen a short clip of it in color.
