Horizon: Zero Dawn Patch 1.32 Adds Easier Difficulty Level
Popular PS4 exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn gets new "Story" difficulty level that will allow people to experience the game's story without having to worry too much about the game's gameplay.

Today, Dutch developer Guerrilla Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment released a new patch for Horizon: Zero Dawn that notably adds a new, easier difficulty level called “Story.”

Available now, Patch 1.32 is mostly just a normal ol’ patch, with a variety of bug fixes and game improvements. However, it does have one notable inclusion: and that’s the aforementioned new difficulty level.

According to Guerrilla Games, the new difficulty level has been added for people who mostly just want to experience the game’s narrative and not have the gameplay in any way be obstacle to that. While personally I think that would be an odd thing to do, because the gameplay is certainly the highlight of Horizon: Zero Dawn and not the narrative, it’s a nice option for those who want an easier way to breeze through the game.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is available as a PS4 exclusive. As of April 30th, the game has sold an impressive 3.4 million copies. Further, it has new content on the way this November, in the form of an expansion dubbed The Frozen Wilds, which was first revealed at E3.

Below, you can view the full patch notes, courtesy of the PlayStation Forums, as well as view a new trailer which accompanied the patch today. As always, be wary of spoilers when reading the patch notes.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Koei Tecmo:

Building on the fast-paced action the series is famous for, and featuring an abundance of new gameplay mechanics, the gripping sequel will be released across America as Attack on Titan 2 in early 2018. Players will once again don the renowned Omni-Directional Manoeuver Gear as they fight and repel the fearsome Titans that threaten humanity, to restore peace within the walls.

Digital Foundry's tech analysis finds the biggest changes are found in the gameplay.

Just a little over one year after the release of Uncharted 4, Naughty Dog has returned with a new, slimmer entry in the franchise. With a change in protagonist and a new location, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy offers a taste of both old and new. Nathan Drake's globe-trotting adventures are replaced with a less expansive, single-location story but there's a strong argument that the gameplay is now wider as a result. The series' signature linear storytelling is melded with more pronounced infiltration, stealth and exploration elements set within a larger gameplay area, so in this sense, Uncharted has incorporated mechanics reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid 5 and even Crysis. The good news is that the evolution in the approach really pays off.
