Without the development of magnet technology in the last quarter of a century, many of the devices as we know them, and rely on day-to-day would not have been possible. The next could be Elon Musk's Hyperloop transport system. Think London to Edinburgh in 30 minutes floating on a magnetic field.

It could be closer than you think...

OK, we know we love magnets (probably a bit too much), but we challenge you to watch this video and not smile, just a little bit.

We promise it will be the best 4-minute long video featuring magnets that you will watch today!

Take a peak behind the curtain at CERN with this amazing series of photos, where magnets that generate a magnetic field more than 100,000 times stronger than the Earth's accelerate particles at almost the speed of light through 17miles of underground tunnels.

Yesterday first4magnets was at the UK Eurobot finals held at Middlesex University. We were there to support the three teams of super-talented young engineers from University of Southampton that we had sponsored.

Eurobot is a fantastic amateur robotics competition and we were privileged to be involved. Read more about the event below. #EurobotUK

Today is a very apt day for us to be sharing this with news you, but you gotta believe us.

Our awesome (if we do say so ourselves) video showing the ferocious power of huge neodymium magnets has passed 10,000,000 views on our YouTube channel and we are super-proud! If you haven't seen it, take a look below.

*Spoiler alert*
No hands were harmed in the making of this video, honest...

We often get asked, so what are magnets used for? Well, aside from visible applications like holding things against your fridge, magnets are often hidden away just doing their job without you realising they're even there. Like, for example in a coin-operated pool table...

Magnets are used by artists, designers and sculpters to add a level of interactivity to exhibitions which can't be provided by any other method.

This particular example shows artwork and touring exhibition 'Hollow' by Jenny Hall. Made of cardboard boxes that connect together with magnets provided by first4magnets, Hollow connects construction with destruction.
