Flemish Beef Stew, traditionally made in the Netherlands as well as in Belgium. We had our first taste of this recipe (or something very similar) in Amsterdam.

Kapucijners met spek en piccalilli (marrowfat beans with bacon and onions). We ate this in Amsterdam—so, so delicious. The beans were served warm, with a slathering of piccalilli and an equal heap of diced bacon, and diced raw onions on top. Piccalilly is a kind of mustard-flavored pickled vegetables. (See next recipe.)

We had this the more traditional way, with a sausage instead of bacon. Had the option of kale instead of sauerkraut, but we all wanted the sauerkraut. ;)
