While the hotel was very clean and well run, I noticed two big deficiencies. The first was that while each room had coffee making facilities - there were no cups in 2 of the 3 suites used by my party. Soon fixed by Housekeeping. Secondly, the rooms do not have a refrigerator - not even a bar fridge! And this in a very hot desert-like environment where things like fresh milk do not last long without refrigeration of some sort. I like milk in my tea or coffee!

My wife and I had a conference in Gilbert and stayed here for a romantic getaway. Let me start with the cons: At check in we were directed the LONG way to our room, with all of our luggage with us to lug along. No recognition for being a Priority Club Member. TV is Analog, horrible channels. The sheets weren't put all the way down, so we had to remake the bed. Closet door was broken & completely off the tracks. We had to wedge it into the tracks so it wouldn't fall on us. Water was forgotten one day. Ice bucket plastic sleeve was forgotten another day. Our shower curtain hooks were never closed for our 4 day stay. And the pros: The hotel was gorgeous. There are tall palm trees in the courtyards, balcony access to all rooms and the grounds were well kept. You can walk to and around downtown Chandler (several restaurants, shoe stores and specialty shops) from the hotel. The room decor reminded me of a 60's luxury hotel (not that I'm from the 60's but I watch movies). I would say I felt like Cary Grant about 40% of the time. Parking was good and we never had trouble finding a spot near the elevator by our room. And the neutrals: Breakfast was good but it reminded me of a quiet Shoney's (remember that place?). Overall, our visit was really good. One star off for some of the quirky cons above. We will, however, stay here again if we are in the area. By the way, the shoe store in the downtown shopping area is fantastic.

We recently planned a family reunion and arranged to for all the out of town guest to stay at San Marcos. It worked out so great as the location is excellent! "Downtown Chandler" restaurants/bars are walking distance and so we were able to go off site for an 80th birthday party and the guests could walk to the event. We also had an event at the San Marcos one night at their more casual restaurant. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and we would all go back again. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the pool itself could use a little face lift...this is Arizona!!

Overall a very lousy stay. This March, my wife, her parents, our two kids, and I went to a family reunion in Chandler. We booked a pair of rooms with adjoining doors with a pair of Queen beds in each. First off, we tried to check in at 3:00, and the rooms were not ready. Then upon returning later that day, we were told they were all full so we did not get rooms with two beds as we had booked. We got into our rooms, then took the kids down to the pool for a bit before bed. When we got back, they had checked someone else into one of the rooms. Once we had this cleared up, we made sure we had all of our belongings, and they had cleaned the room, it was very late at night. Ordinarily, I'd say these things happen, and its less about this and more about the staff. Through out this whole thing, they were extremely rude. The guy at the front desk, Damon, seemed annoyed that we were asking him to kick a "guest" out of OUR room! Ha! It was incredible. I'm not sure that they even said they were sorry about the mix up. All of this, and an overall shabby hotel. No thanks. Anyway, that's the story of our wonderful stay at the Crowne Plaza. I hope this helps you pick a hotel in the area. UPDATE: As I was typing this review, my wife just pointed out that it looks like room service forgot to clean someone's puke off of our toilette. This place is getting better by the minute...

affordably and competively priced hotel ($90 plus resort fee and tax) as compared to the places in phoenix and scottsdale. hotel had a great mix of modern amenities (nice beds, sheets, decor, bathrooms, TV's, clock) with grounds that were relaxed, spacious and harkened to a more relaxed spacious time. Pool, jacuzzi and deck was very large with dozens of lounge chairs and several umbrella covered tables and chairs. Very easy to find a quiet private spot at pool area. Salt pools were suprisingly warm in the middle of the summer and jacuzzi was not much warmer than pool which was suprising. Main lobby had class. Cool old car on display, piano in the lounge, flavored water and several today's newspapers available. The grounds were messy from monson that blew through and took 12-18 hours to be cleaned. Some room service dishes were left in hallways for several hours. Overall My wife was pleased. She'd like to return the San Marcos perhaps on our next Staycation. Sam

Even though the resort is currently being renovated, we really enjoyed our stay. If you are reading this and are in the hotel industry, call them and find out how they train their staff. I have never experienced this level of customer service any where!

We spent one night at Plaza Resort San Marcos Golf Resort in early December to celebrate our anniversary. We had a lovely, very large suite that was beautifully decorated. Small touches such as stationery supplies at the writing desk and fresh flowers were very nice. - we really enjoyed...

This is the worst golf course I've ever played on. It was only $15 in the afternoon during the summer, and I still felt ripped off. The greens were atrocious, most of them on the front nine had large dirt spots all over them and you could hardly tell where the green ended and the fringe began. Everything here is old, and not in a vintage/antique way but in a terribly maintained way. You'd be better off not golfing at all than playing here.
