A historic pub in Kilburn which survived being bombed in the Second World War has been demolished by developers behind the backs of the local community. Developers ripped through the Carlton Tavern on Friday 10th April, despite being considered for statutory listing. Local Cllr Jan Prendergast from Westminster City Council said: “I'm horrified for the local residents that this has occurred. It came as such a shock to everyone. There was n...

The Sunday Mirror claiming credit for law historic law change with CAMRA towing along in their wake when truth is the newspaper had nothing to do with it and CAMRA dragged their feet when it really counted.

The Market Rent Only option for tied tenants is the result of a decade of diligent, determined and dedicated voluntary work by a team of tied publicans who've been taken to the cleaners by white collar fraudsters called tied pubco model CEOs through being hoodwinked into signing contracts by misrepresentation.

This law change is due to thousands of hours of focused work by highly skilled publicans determined to see fairness and freedom in the pub sector, headed up by LibDem MP Greg Mulholland with Campaign for Real Ale pussy footing around the edges and the Sunday Mirror printing a few column inches while ignoring the opportunity to get behind deep stories illustrating the #GreatBritishPubcoScam that they've been offered by people like me,one of those publicans.

It's thanks to us that the beer tie is slowly being eroded... And thanks to publicans working to save their own livelihoods, traditions and heritage that thousands of otherwise soon to be ex pubs may survive for the edification of future generations.

Watch out for the tied pubco's behaving spitefully and vindictively in the next three years.
Landlords will be able to buy their own beer on the open market at much lower prices

Greg Mulholland MP is an extraordinary, hard working honourable and principled man. He's devoted to his constituency and to good publicans and their pubs and determined to ensure the services these bastions of British culture deliver to their common are preserved for further generations instead of being flogged off for short term gain and alternative use...

Bob Sayles is helping raise campaign funds for Greg's reelection... See the link

Food is excellent - and for the quality really good value. Fantastic dish was the cheese with honey and everything else is solid, clearly made by an authentically Spanish experienced chef. The staff friendly knowledgeable and attentive. Altogether really enjoyed the experience. My 12 and 14 year old sons liked it a lot too.

The Unicorn's a find. Friendly, knowledgeable staff buzzing around the place, cleaning and. clearing between serving. My boys, 11 and 13, said their burgers are among the best they've ever had, which is no mean achievement and the vegetarian Portobello mushroom 'stack' my younger son ordered for me by mistake, instead of the very meaty sounding Brazilian beef steak, black bean and chorizo stew I wanted, in spite of my initial shock of disappointment at pulling the short straw, was excellent, with well judged flavours and textures, nicely balanced ingredients, good looking and filling too, in spite of turning up at the table so neatly arranged on the plate I thought it wouldn't be enough to satisfy. But it was. No small thing this either: The Unicorn's chips are, really, excellent; crisp and golden on the outer edges with crunch at the corners and ends that give way to soft, fluffy interiors.. This is the way chips should be but so rarely are: perfect for jabbing with a fork and deftly pushing into ketchup or Mayo, or one of the homemade dips that come with the burgers; a tangy yogurty thing and a sharply spicy red chilli. Both original, both really good. Sitting there in the spacious artfully decked out lounge/dining room overlooking the pretty Algarve like cove as the sun goes down makes for a guaranteed good end to any day. You can feel the warmth of the people who run the place as much as you can the setting sun. Good value at around £9 for a main course. Really enjoyed it.
