Great food, fun atmosphere and huge beer selection. You will love this informal but enjoyable location. Wonderful location and great place to be.

I came here with a huge group of friends (about 12) the other day and Leopold's was very accommodating. I had the Ksesptzle, the Austrian mac and cheese, and it was delicious. The portion was huge and very cheesy just the way I like it. I also tried their Choucroute Garni Platter. Their house-made bratwurst was very tasty as well as their potatoes. I'm not a huge fan of German food, but this place was pretty tasty.

Great Austrian food with the atmosphere, inviting hospitality, and comforting beers to make you feel at home. A friend took me when I was visiting, just as SF was starting to cool down, and it's a great spot to pop in late night for activity and to get warmed up from the inside out!

Amazing food and service!! Just make sure to get there early...seriously...coordinate to you het there early, almost right after they open because it will get crowded and there are no reservations to be made. First come first serve and they will gently turn you away if they are booked for the night. Do yourself a favor and plan ahead to get there early.

We just moved into the neighborhood and found this charming and delicious. The food was a lot, but great for splitting. The strudel was delicious. We will be back!

Very similar to Suppenkuche in Hayes Valley (also has beer in a glass boot), Leopolds is a boisterous, fun place run by the nicest, friendliest people. I normally don't like German/Austrian cuisine, but the limited menu is all quality and good portion sizes. I recommend the Wiener Schnitzel - crispy and tender. Save room for dessert and get the apple strudel, which was flaky and just the right ratio of apple to crust.

I know many regulars are strict on calling the type of food that's served here (Bavarian, Austrian or German), but regardless of which you prefer, most would agree that it's the best of that type of food they've had in San Francisco. When you walk in the door, you're greeted by a friendly host and friendlier owner. The waitresses all wear dirndls and the place has a very Oktoberfest in Munich feel to it with the bench tables. Unfortunately, they do not take reservations but no worries, you can sit yourself at the bar and have a few pints or liters while you wait. Going back to the food, it's simply outstanding. From the pork to beef to schnitzels, everything is full of flavor and very tender.
