Have you been in to see A hundred Years, A Hundred Chairs Masterworks from the Vitra Museum? It is an amazing look at the whimsy and the functional!

William Pachner, a native of Czechoslovakia, had a childhood characterized by tragedy. He lost 80 members of his family in the Holocaust. This fact shaped both his humanity and his approach to painting. This compelling exhibition is on view now at the Museum.

"The museum lights up with color changing LED's which look really cool at night."
"Just underwhelmed and the staff seemed offended by people's presence in general."

I visited the museum with a school group today and it was wonderful. They had arranged for us to have guides give us a tour which was wonderful! The guides were so full of knowledge about everything they were showing us! I noticed that some of the other reviews were complaining about size of the museum. It isn't a huge museum and there aren't a lot of different exhibits but given the low price I think this is more than fair for what you pay! The exhibits had tons of different pieces of art to view and a lot of history to see! I loved visiting and will gladly plan another visit when the exhibits change! The two exhibits that were there on my visit today were: RENOIR TO CHAGALL: PARIS AND THE ALLURE OF COLOR POSEIDON AND THE SEA: MYTH, CULT AND DAILY LIFE Although both where great I took a special liking to the Renoir to Chagall exhibit but I am not the least bit surprised by this! I am in love with paintings and found it fascinating to learn more about this the art & artist of this time as well as to see the beautiful work displayed!

Beautiful new building. However except for the 2 special exhibits, the only other pieces were a nice collection of ceramic/clay items from early centuries. This is a start for Tampa but I am hoping they will expand their collections.

The last time I went, I spent a lovely 3 or 4 hours discussing every display with a new friend. They have lots of interesting installations rotating in and out and the space is gorgeous.

I went for the Peter Max exhibition. Wonderful aluminum covered building structure near the water. Friendly staff not as big as I thought it was but happy I went. Food and gift shop on site

Went to see the Peter Max exhibit which was good. The rest of the museum was mostly ancient clay pots and artifacts along with a clothing exhibit that is not really art. There was very little canvas and print art. Having come from Chicago which has a TERRIFIC Art Museum with the Art Institute this was disappointing. If it wasn't for the Peter Max exhibit this would have been a huge let down.

I really enjoyed the exhibit by Peter Max, 50 years of cosmic dreaming, at the Tampa Museum of Art. Peter Max is a very talented artist. On Friday's Tampa Museum of Arts has pay what you will and are open late which is nice. Unfortunately, the museum has a lot of wasted space and the actual viewing area of the art in the museum is really small. I don't think the normal $15 admission fee is worth it as you can breeze through this museum in 10-15min. Sono Cafe in the museum has really good wines and paninis. Tampa Museum of Art is also a great place for weddings and special events. The museum lights up with color changing LED's which look really cool at night.

Small museum. Free for college/university students. A nice way to spend a good hour to look at some nice art and artifacts.

Was very educational for the adults. Had good exhibits. Was very small and not a lot to offer though. Not fun for large groups of young kids. The tour was kind of dull.
