According to the White House pool report, "One onlooker [who shook hands with Obama] wore a large horse head but it's unclear what message he hoped to convey."

What was this mystery man's message?
President Obama was a hit with the bar crowd in Denver. Obama was greeted with an offer of a marijuana joint when he mingled with the locals, first at the Wazee Supper Club and later at the Wynkoop Brewing Company.

Face it, you need to scrobble your +Google Play Music to +Last.fm. This is the Chrome extension you've been looking for; it works like a charm, and is delightfully lightweight.

Apparently not enough people have heard about +UberConference, because I had to suffer through a non-Uber conference call the other day.  _UberConference makes conference calls so much nicer_. Easier, clearer, more productive, all of that, too. Check out the features page and get wonder why this wasn't being done before. It's free for up to 10 callers, and ten bucks a month for more. It works with any decent browser, and the Chrome extension is an unnecessary, but useful, frill.

What are the advantages over Hangouts? Better audio and video quality or a different feature set? At a glance, the only thing that Hangouts doesn't have are the social links. Also I guess you can only place calls from a Hangout not to a Hangout.

Except for the part where Plex decided every Jet Li and Jackie Chan movie I have should be titled "*Year Break*". All of them. I assume it's more of a bad metadata issue, but man it's a pain.

QuickOffice is a great product, so thanks for making it free. But the newest releases have removed integration with non-Google products like DropBox, SugarSync, et al.  Great if you're a Google-only person, but if you collaborate in the real world, take a look at the excellent OfficeSuite Pro 7 from mobisystems.com -- it's just as good, or better, and integrates well with Evernote.

They lived alone the "edge of famine", but their minds remained fertile and capable:
The daughters spoke a language distorted by a lifetime of isolation. “When the sisters talked to each other, it sounded like a slow, blurred cooing.” [...] The family’s principal entertainment, a Russian journalist noted, “was for everyone to recount their dreams.” [...] As the Soviet  geologists got to know the Lykov family, they realized that they had underestimated their abilities and intelligence... Each family member had a distinct personality.
In 1978, Soviet geologists prospecting in the wilds of Siberia discovered a family of six, lost in the taiga

I've been making a similar argument for years. Ratcliff is spot on when he draws a parallel between "horseless buggy" and "mirrorless camera", and refers to a camera's mirror as a "medieval trap door". The past isn't too far off, as modern ILCs are still a brick and a lens. Remember the CoolPix 900? That was fresh take on the #camera . What's next?

Location History was an especially helpful for determining what time I arrived at work or a client site, if I've forgotten to enter a start time. I hope it comes back soon. Disappointingly, the lack of decent Google+ APIs has pushed me to Foursquare, which is much more automation and export friendly. If a service is going to collect data on me, I want to be able to access and extract it easily for my own custom use as well.

That said, I use Google Now and Google+ Locations daily, and I have reasonably good understanding of Google's privacy and data collection policies, so I'm happy to allow Google to track and record my location.

Now, when will Locations smarten up and recognize that there is a problem with bad location computing when my map position jump several miles in half a minute, every day for months, and only when I pass a specific location?
Google had a cool feature as part of Location History: a dashboard that displayed how you spend your time, how much do you spend at work or at home, the places you've visited, when you visited each country, your flights, the ...

Even an increasingly east Asian neighborhood needs good westernized Chinese food, and you'll soon notice that although the staff are Chinese, none of the patrons are. That's fine, because Great Chow has mastered the art of one of the finest western Chinese dishes: General Gao's chicken. The somewhat recently expanded and remodeled restaurant looks nicer, and now features a sushi bar, though it isn't their primary strength. Price is a bit too high, but they seem to do good business, so the market sustains it. For "authentic" Cantonese cooking, you have many other options in the area, and if you want your "Chinese" cooked and served with tiki drinks by grizzled whites, you've got "Cathay Pacific" down the street.

Wollaston Station has a single eacalator and no elevator, making it unusable for people with severely impaired mobility. But, it's close to some good restaurants and a nice coffee shop.

One of the better Mexican restaurants run by gringos. La Paloma has a great house salsa, which includes shredded carrots. Don't knock it til you try it. Loses a few points for long waits and a failure to include rice and beans with every order.

Great food, good beer selection, and waitstaff with trendy black outfits. The macaroni and cheese is some of the best ever made, and the onion rings are thinly shaved, served in a paper cone, and bleeping delicious. Unfortunately the joint is small enough that you'll have a wait for a table if you don't time things well. Also, it's on the pricier side, but black t-shirts and a slick chef don't pay for themselves.
