The clothing of the year 2000, imagined in 1939. As for male fashion, revealed at the end?  "If he matters at all, there won't be any shaving, collars, ties or pockets. He'll be fitted with a telephone, a radio, and containers for coins, keys, and candy for cuties." Jumpsuits and toolbelts get all the ladies.

Does this mean no web #security  updates for folks using #Android   4.0 and earlier? If so, it's yet another reason to avoid device vendors who don't provide regular #updates  -- which, sadly, is most of them. Who doesn't suck about this, besides Apple and Google (with their Nexus line)?

Supposedly it's fixed in 5.1.1. I do rather like Lollipop overall, and I make daily use of 5.0 features like Smart Lock's trusted devices and Chromebook integration, and I find it quicker than KitKat in many respects. It's just the damn memory leaks and the associated app crashes and restarts. Ugh.

A beautiful typeface and the mad passions that led one man to submerge it.  #typography   #design   #history
ON DARK evenings in late 1916, a frail 76-year-old man could often be seen shuffling furtively between The Dove, a pub in west London, and the green and gold turrets...

Great storm photos from the Boston Globe. Our house is on a hillside, a mile from the water, so flooding wasn't an issue. We still haven't completely dug out our garage, so even though our cars aren't buried in snow, they're not going anywhere at the moment.
The blizzard of 2015 blasted the region with wind-whipped snow that piled nearly 3-feet high in some places.

Great tool allowing a #Chromebook to play nicely with #AirPlay receivers in the office or #classroom.

The John Adams house has a beautiful garden growing beside it, and the vines on the library are complemented by the greenery on the chimney trellis.

Finally, I have some justification for writing in a notebook. This will be good marketing material for +Livescribe

The ham-handed title got my attention, but the point is fair: American cities are growing beyond the capacity of their water (and sewer) systems. Western water-poor areas are a problem, and lawns are a huge part of that: "...In the western United States, almost half of the water... [in struggling cities] goes outdoors to lawns." However, raising all water bills penalizes poor people, and "it takes more than a... $100 month water bill to get someone with a lush green lawn to change their behavior."

Population growth and global warming are stressing our water supplies. Here's how we'll adapt.
