Working on a fascinating project on cities. After a lot of data analysis I did some field studies on Saturday and went for a big tour of the Council Estates (ie social housing projects) in Bristol. 35km walked and learned a lot.

Bug?
I was very surprised that I received many duplicate portal candidates in the recent batch of new submissions.

Looking into this I have become convinced that I am being asked to review candidates after they have already been approved and appear on the map.

Is that a bug? If so, +NIA Ops, how am I meant to score a portal that has already been approved? Is it a disagreement if I say its a duplicate (of itself?)

Targetting, Staliking, similar things
Personally, I am pretty sick of hearing people talk of being "targeted" or "stalked" by other players. This why I stopped playing football: the bloody defenders were always stalking me.

If somebody follows you around, or hangs around your house to intimidate you personally, that is a crime. If somebody follows you around or hangs around outside your house because you are playing the same game and you happen to play at the time this is occurring or your house happens to be a high level portal, that is just what the game is.

Besides, getting so emotionally attached to a portal that it causes you great distress when it is smashed is maybe not a good idea.

Junior Players - I think this issue deserves its own post. How do we stand regarding underage, meaning less than 13 year old agents. Personally, I find it a slippery slope to argue that certain parts of the rules don't apply. Of course everybody agrees that this is not as bad as spoofing but it does have the feel of double accounting in many cases. (also I think parents might be ruining ingress for the children)

Appeal Category: Rejected Edit
Portal Title: Old Sea Anchor
City, Region and Country: Flatholm Island, Bristol Channel, UK
Lat/Long: 51.375646,-3.120745
Reason/comments:

On the Island of Flat Holm there is a rather curious object (see photo). Agents apparently assumed that it was an anchor and hence named the portal "Old sea anchor". However, the truth is much more exciting and I feel that the title and description should reflect this interesting truth.

On May 13, 1879 Guglielmo Marconi transmitted the first ever radio signal over open water [1]. This transmission took place between Flat Holm Island and Lavernock Point, Penearth, UK. Marconi's sending station on Flat Holm is marked by a replica of his positioning goniometer [2] built by engineering students of Cardiff University. A goniometer is a device that is used for turning an object placed on top of it. Marconi used such a goniometer to position his antenna for his radio transmission. The replica sits in the same spot from which Marconi's first message was transmitted over the waters of the Bristol Channel.

I believe that exciting bit of history should be reflected in the portal title and description, particularly given the role that wireless communication plays for Ingress.

Please change the portal title to "First radio communication over open water"

Furthermore please change the description to "From this spot nobel laureate Guglielmo Marconi sent the first radio communication over open water on 13 May 1897. This object is a replica of the goniometer that Marconi used to position his antenna and marks the exact point from which the transmission was sent. Marconi transmitted ""Are you ready?", asking whether humanity was ready for the age of wireless communication."
