75 years ago today, the physicist Enrico Fermi together with other scientists successfully started the first controlled nuclear chain reaction at the Chicago Pile No. 1 nuclear reactor. This was the starting point for the civil use of nuclear energy but, alas, also for the construction of the atomic bomb.

Today the Eurosafe Forum starts in Paris. Scientists and representatives from expert organizations, operators and authorities will take part.
Today lectures are going to be held by, among others, H. Wanner of WENRA (Western European Nuclear Regulators' Association) and P.-F. Chevet by the French authority ASN. In addition, young scientists will “fight” in a Science Slam to win the #ETSON Award. Tomorrow participants will be able to attend special seminars on radiation protection, security or #nuclear installations and #decommissioning. #EUROSAFE2017 https://www.eurosafe-forum.org/eurosafe2017
